I have a small lawn business, along with a full time job, and had the chance to mow for an old timer and his wife. I immediately took a liking to the guy, who was retired from Navistar. He had all kinds of stories from when he worked there, and loved to show me his old tools. He recently passed away, and he left me his band saw and drill press.

The band saw is a 16" Duro, and is heavy as hell. The drill press is a Craftsman. I was able to find the owner's manual for the Duro, but I'm not sure about the year of the Craftsman. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the loss of a friend. And congrats on your wind fall. And let me be the first to say it, YOU ****!!!! It's cool that you meant enough to him for him to remember you in his will.

You ****! I picked up one of those mohawk craftsmans and love it. They were made by King Seeley from, I believe, 41 to 44 when production stopped for the war.

If the saw's model starts with "103", then KS made it for Craftsman. KS was bought out by Emerson (of 113 model prefix fame) in the 1960's. Emerson supports whatever's left on the old KS product.

The model number for the drill press should be on a badge located on the base plate near the post. If it starts with 101, it was made by Atlas. If it starts with 103, it was made by King Seeley. If we have the model number, we may be able to point you to a PDF manual online.

Very nice. Looks like a right angle gear box to slow the saw down to cut metal. I believe the drill press is commonly referred to as a helmet head.
