Has anyone installed any type of LED dusk to dawn security light. If so was it a good light, what brand or any other feedback.

Get the Streetworks (Utility) version of the Eaton/Cooper Lighting Caretaker. It's the real deal and will be with you for the long haul. Make sure to put an LED utility grade photocontrol on it as well.

Yes, I'm in the Utility business.

Or just install photoeye units so the lights stay off most of the time? Friendly suggestion in the spirit of keeping light pollution down so we can all see the stars. :)

Security light is a misnomer for those lights that stay on all the time. They just create shadows that people can hide in and draw bugs. Motion sensor lights give much better security and people trying to sneak through the yard won't know where it's going to be light until the light comes on.

Doubt this is relevant, but I just switched out one of my primary light switches in my detached garage with a motion sensing switch.

IMO, great cheap solution for garage security assuming you have windows.

Buying more for hallways in my house so when I hear that occassional suspicious noise in the night I can just see the light from the bedroom door.

I find it odd that most units the bulb/diode(l.e.d.) isn't easily replaceable , it's replace the whole unit..

I had one of those and had it in a location which would get wet in the rain. Despite being listed on the box as suitable for wet locations it wasn't. Both LED canisters filled with water in heavy rain.

Just something to keep in mind depending on where they are mounted.

I did like the light output up to that point.

Mine failed in less than 2 years. I have tried probably 3 or 4 different lights from Costco and always use a new gasket on installation. They never last too long. Agreed on the light output being good.

I have the 40W Honeywell from Sams Club. Unfortunately, they are currently out and have more on order but removed the shelf space... not sure if they'll be getting more in.

Huge improvement over the metal halide it replaced.
