So, after farming out my sandblasting jobs for the past few years, I decided to pick up a sandblasting cabinet for my smaller jobs. I looked around and found a decent cabinet at Harbor Freight...the same one carried at Sears and Tractor Supply. I'm pretty sure that the gun itself is not the best quality, but I think the cabinet is stout and should serve my needs for a long time. Now I need a dust collector set-up. I'm told that the typical bag-style collector used in woodshops will not filter out the fine dust from the blasting and I'll end up with a coating on everything in my garage. I'm not sure if a Shop Vac really moves the kind of volume needed to keep the work area clear. Anybody with recommendations? Its got a 2.5" port on the side for evacuation.

I have been using a Craftsman 16 gallon shop vac ever since i bought my Cyclone 38x24" cabinet. Someday I would like to get a dust collector designed for a cabinet but don't have the room right now. The shop vac does a good job. About every hour the filter is clogged. That seems to be the only draw back, small filter area. My filter is one of the reusable styles that kind of look like a K&N filter. I have plenty of suction.
