Dust collector remote

I'm looking for a 220v 15 amp remote switch to connect to a homemade shop filter (HVAC blower fan, 1/2 hp motor, 3.5amp). I've been looking at the dust collector remotes although they are all 20amp. I have a 220v circuit wired exactly to where I want it up in the ceiling, but it's running a Nema 6-15 plug. ( I have to check the circuit breaker to see if it's 15 or 20amp) I'd rather not swap the receptacle and nema 15 plugs I have and the dust collectors all seem to be 20 amp with 6-20 plugs.

Is there a lower cost, more direct wire setup for a remote(most seem to be in the $80-100 range)? The dust collectors, beyond being 6-20 ends, they have them in/out. Obviously I could cut the end off and wire directly, but that's not very clean.

Ooh, I hadn't noticed that one had the nema 6-15. I'll look at that some more.

I have used an X10 appliance module to turn the collector on/off with a remote for years. I already had some X10 home automation in the house, so this was an easy addition.

One caveat to this solution - to get started you would need a remote (~15$), an X10 tranceiver to receive the remote signal and send it to other X10 devices (~$25), and finally a 220V appliance switch module to turn the DC off and on. (~$35).

Downside is the cost to get a basic X10 system running, but if you have other things in the shop (or house) you want to control, then investing in the remote and transceiver would be worthwhile. If that doesn't interest you, a dedicated DC remote like Thumper68 suggests is probably the better bet.

Having a look for some used X10 devices may not be a bad idea if price is a concern.

*Edit: noticed that your receptacle is nema 6-15, the X10 appliance module has a 6-20 male plug. Not sure if they have a 6-15 plug in version.

+1 on the Long Ranger unit. We have one at work to turn on a vacuum pump for clamping on a CNC gantry mill and it's worked great for a couple years. I built my own for my dust collector because I'm kinda cheap and I wanted a key-fob type remote I could carabiner to a belt loop on my pants. The remote on the Long Ranger is huge.
