Sorry, I just saw this thread and am amazed at the work you've done in organizing your shop. I do have a few questions. First, are the Dusters street legal or just drag cars? Second, just to be nosey, are the horizontal lockers full of parts or built transmissions to keep clean before delivery? Now that the led lights are up, do you feel a need for more? They look to be awfully high to give you light at a lower area around the floor with no shadows.

The dusters we've had around since the early-mid 90's. They've always been street/strip cars. Dunno what the plan is for them now, honestly. Life, family, time/money thing. I once was a huge car enthusiast but doing auto repair 5-7 days/week for last several decades has left me with no desire to work on my own stuff, unfortunately. The orange car is currently setup for a 3rd gen hemi, and the tan car is just a factory 318 2bbl A/C car.

The horizontal lockers are filled with a combination of specialty auto repair tools--mainly in blow molded cases, and new transmission parts inventory.

The lights in the garage are marginal at best from the builder, but ceiling height is 16'. I already mounted a few high bay LEDs in one area and will probably finish the rest of the garage with them at some point.

Thank you for your kind words!

I'm also watching! The funny thing is I have a torrid red '72 Duster Twister and a 74 tan Gold Duster! Is the 3rd gen hemi 5.7 a 346? I was thinking it was a 345...

That is crazy for sure!! Any pics?? I had an '73 Gold Duster as well.. we painted it in the driveway with a 6 pack of barbeque flat black paint, and a 12 pack of beer .. 340/904/8.75 when it was all said and done .. raced the piss out of it and had a blast.

The 3rd gen hemi motor will be a 426" when done. Stroker 6.1L. But yes, you are correct in that the 5.7L hemi was 345".

My screen name duster346 comes from .040" over 340cid.

This is the only picture I have right now. Me and my brother when we were 10 or 11. Dad gave the car to me when I was 15, It was my first car and I'm going to restore (well, resurrect!) it as time and $ allows. The 74 is a parts car I bought for it. Trust me, it needs a lot of work to be as nice as yours.

That is awesome raggedjim!! My '71 Duster was also my first car .. my dad sold a '29 5 window ford (in pieces) to buy the duster for me.

Mine is original paint .. in fairly good shape being out here in dry Colorado. Just needs lower 1/4 on passenger side.

I've never heard of a neighborhood full of homes with the option to have an attached RV stall, but that's pretty cool. We do have a couple of neighborhoods close to me that are on a small airports and most of the homes have hangars.

Looks like you have a perfect setup for your side business. Keep up the good work!

Beautiful place you and your wife have.

LOVE the way you optioned out the garage into a full-blown work shop. I have a double deep third bay on my house as well but have never seen one laid out the way you have.

On the transmission build side, I got all the boxes fairly organized with new transmission parts inventory, and being fairly happy with that I then switched focus back to working on the Command Center. Here's some pics of how the transmission build side looks now, and some of the drawer layout for parts storage.
Late to the party, great progress. What source did you use for the red bins to store the small parts?

Thanks
