Any tips on fixing dusting concrete? Even a temporary solution would be nice, I need to rebuild an engine and trans soon and a dusty garage is not an ideal place to do so. The concrete doesnt seem to soft but even after I sweep it, its ready to best swept again!

Is it deteriorating, or just holding dust in a rough surface? Have you tried washing/scrubbing it?

Maybe a sealer would do the trick. Of course, it depends on the size project you are willing to tackle. There is prep work involved. Maybe grinding. The pros will be along soon to pick up where my "help" ends. Good luck!

Dusting occurs when concrete isn't finished properly or is exposed to unvented heaters during finishing. The result is a weak surface layer that wears away easily creating dust. Short of shot blasting to remove the weak layer, about the only thing you can do is apply a hardener. It won't repair the restore the surface completely but it should improve wearability and cut down on the dust.

We have had many clients solve this problem inexpensively by using our Solvent Based Sealer for less than 40 cents per sq foot total for two coats.

It seems like its to soft but I have not tried scrubbing it. I might try pressure washing a part of it and seeing what happens. Just need to find some time to clean out part of the garage.

You are getting a lot of advice here and you need to use some common sense to discern the best way to go. Dusting vs soft easily scored ;soft' concrete are two different things.

Shea has a great article on this that he posted a link to. Start there.
