Looking to pick up some sanding belts for a Dynafile on Zoro. They have 3M/scotch-brite, Arc Abrasives (made in USA), "zoro select" (Mexico), and I think also Norton. Most of what I'll buy are the scotch-brite style belts as I still have some sanding belts.

Are Arc Abrasive brand scotch-brite style belts any good? They are about half the price as scotch-brite. Zoro select is priced about in between the two and are made in Mexico. I realize you can't go wrong with 3M, except for the $, but looking for recommendations based on experience. Thanks!

Bumping an old thread to keep topics together. I just found a B&D DynaFile II, used, with only the skinny wheel contact arm included. Which size / type belts work with this arm?

1/4" abrasive
1/2" abrasive
Non woven?

Thanks

What is "skinny"? I have the Dynafile with the 1/2 and 3/4" belt width arms; the wheel on both is about 1/8" narrower than the belt.

As far as the original question that I forgot about asking, I ended up going primarily with Norton sanding belts and they are very good, no surprise. The arc abrasive scotch brite belts were also fine, but as an occasional home user I can't say if 3M is better for cost vs life.

I would assume that's for 1/4" belts. My 1/2 belt arm has a "flat" wheel on it; it looks nothing like that.

Any thoughts on abrasive back belts vs the non woven on that wheel?

Sandpaper vs scotchbrite basically.
