I put up a heater from Menards right at 3 years ago. If memory serves me, that was when the cold weather hit the Midwest and I was concerned about stuff in the garage freezing. It's been doing its thing just fine until a couple weeks ago. I noticed it was running constantly and could only get the garage up to about 50F. I'm home this week so I pulled it down and got to looking at it. From what I can tell, one of the 5 elements has burned up. No visual clues, but when I switch through the 3 heat settings, 3000/4000/5000w, the resistance is high. I'll probably go buy another from Menards. They are cheaper there than anywhere else by a lot and there's a rebate now. I have a feeling if I wait until it gets cold again, the prices will go up to what everybody else sells them for or about 1.5x what it is now. Downside is the warranty will be mostly gone by the time I use it. I figure if I need the warranty, it'll be right away anyway.
Does anybody else have one of these? Is 3 years about all they are good for? I paid under $100 for it, so I got about $33 in it for each year, not including power.
