Thanks, but it's such a cumbersome process! Now that most have moved to phones only, I think GG needs to move to a simpler direct posting format. Or maybe there is I just dont know about it!

Ed, To answer your question yes there is a way to post pics direct & it works great and much easier than actually using links from PhotoBucket or other.

Just get the Garage Journal App Like shown in my posts. You can add as many photo's as you want with a few simple clicks. R

Like this. Just click on link provided below. A bit of a learning curve how it works but is really neat. Easy to click a pic n upload vs uploading to a host then clicking on link etc.

I'm trying that.... as it seems easiest and I used to post from my desk top no issues, but when I insert a link from Google photos, with or w/o "img" before and after, they just dont show up...

Well, I Finally got some time to sit down at my computer (rather than my phone), where I can update this page with the finalization of the 1956 IHC 4x4 project.
For more details, check out my blog postings: https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?r...;onClosedMenu=allposts;postNum=0;src=postname

After 3 long years, the 1956 IHC 4x4 is finally done! Owners came and picked it up and was thrilled!! This is a VERY rare truck that you can't just open a catalogue and to order parts. As show in the many previous posts, I either fabricated or scrounged to find many of the parts needed to finish it.

***************************************************

20180925_105041.jpg

Below - on the 4-post lift in the E-tek shop,
which about the 4th location for it during it's time at #E-tekRestorations. Tow-hooks where installed on by the original owner and they needed to remain to help tell the story.

20181104_111500.jpg

The cantilevered hood is rare, unique - and a complete pain in the ***! One has to open one side or the other to work on the right or left side of the engine, but neither leaves enough room to work. Luckily you can also lift of the entire hood, but it takes 2 -3 guys and a lot of care to remove it without damaging the edges!

20180925_105051.jpg

From the side it's a handsome vehicle - especially in 4x4 spec. The wheels use "split rims" all around and so many people are so scared to work on them, one has to hunt for a wheel shop that will do it.

20181104_111516.jpg

The bed was removed and a new one - trimmed down from another model - was welded into place. The entire inside of the box was smoothed over many months and finally sprayed with box liner and then painted body color. The hog tie downs are farm-spec add ons the owner didn't want to part with.

20181104_111533.jpg

For a basic, no-spec farm truck, the IHC has a great dash. This model has the uprated heater blower and defroster, 4 wheel-drive transfer case controls and vacuum operated wipers. A suicide knob was added to help with city maneuverability.

20181104_111552.jpg

Here she is, loaded up and leaving the E-tek shop, en-route back to its owners at Regina Beach Campground. A full run-through will be needed next spring to ensure the drive-train and engine are all working as they should. Lots of fun times ahead!

20181104_113419.jpg

20181104_113448.jpg

With the IHC out of the shop, it's time for a big clean up and finally time to work on one of my own projects....question is, which will it be?? :headscrat:thumbup:

Thanks all. Next up is this 1964 Mercury Comet Convertible. Original owners wife was moving to seniors care and the family almost had to give it up when they couldn't find someone to take it on and they couldn't afford to store it. So I stepped in and stored it for 3 years while I finished that truck and some other stuff. Now I'll get 'er all fixed up, painted and put back together using 95% of the original parts. I'll clean up and repair interior, rebuild and detail the dash, engine and top, repair and polish all the stainless trim and put a nice paint job on it.

Couple of bad spots underneath - but not nearly as bad as I thought! Based on the rarity of this car - I'll be fabricating everything needed in-house.

Although I hadn't posted much to GJ for a few years I sure appreciate being able to check in on everyone else's builds, fabrication pages and new members garages. A great way to keep motivated....even if life get's in the way for a while.

Ed.....outstanding job on the truck.....

The convertible......are you fixing it for them or yourself? In other words....do you get to keep it?

I realize you only get about 1 week of good convertible weather up there......so you could always ship that car down my way where it would get a lot more use.....

Hey John! We actually get a few months of GREAT convertible weather - but you're right....it feels like a week, especially once its over!

The car remains in the original-owners family. I generally only do restorations for people with a good story, a real connection with car and where my involvement will be more than just transactional. Kinda a win-win situation.

Loved following your Jeep thread! My brother lives in San Diego and has a great Renegade at his "Winter house" in Big Bear. Myself, I've been looking at bringing a Humvee up out of the US! Also thanks for sharing the Photobucket fix - I'm gonna try that this weekend!!

I'm in the process of making a 'few' mods to the jeep....my oldest boy is no 16....working on his learners permit. Them being scouts means they also like camping....time to go rock crawl and camp....rock crawl....camp....repeat as necessary....

I'm doing a rear disk brake conversion....tube fenders...D44 Flat Top...new seats....finally going to finish my center console....etc...etc....

Here is a pic of the 'crew'....we did the Alaskan cruise in Aug....outstanding is an understatement....by boys are 16 & 14....and taller than me...

Some progress on the Comet Caliente this week. The rockers where apparently galvanized from factory, so they are perfect, but the piece attaching floor to rocker was gone.

Several bends and tweaks later, and new pieces where fitted:

And welded in:

Same for the inner fenders and torque boxes:

After YEARS of working on other peoples projects...I finally got the engine in my 240Z! These things have (Finally) come around in value, with nice 1970-71 models now going for $30-40K. This one is an early 72 model that I bought for $500 in 1996! I've dragged it from BC to SK, stored it everywhere and then finally did the body and paint a few years back. Now the engine is in and I'm working on the interior!

Looks good E! That hood on the IH, blew my mind. I can see how difficult it would be to work on anything in the engine bay. Are you planning any hop ups on the Z engine?

HAHA - no doubt not the best hinge system ever invented! YOu CANNOT get to anything on the "Down-side" which mean you have to open one side, then the other, every few minutes, or just remove the entire thing whenever you want to do more than boost/tighten the battery or tweek the carb. Problem is, everytime you remove it, you risk scratching the edges and more!

The Datsun will remain stock. I love stock things and mostly do full "as new" restorations. That said, I just got an ODD duck of a car that someone loves and they want to add a "pro-touring" touch, including (possibly) a 592 Chev Engine, full tubular and coilover suspension, custom seats, the works.

The car you ask??? A 1975 Lemans SuperCoupe! :shocking: Stay tunes for THAT!

So while that sinks in - and to give me a break - I went back to the 240Z and got the engine and interior done and installed

One day though, I got an offer I just couldn't refuse....so after much hand-wringing, I finally let the Merc go. It was like trading one of your children away!!...:lol_hitti

Well....what did I trade it for you ask??

Nice Torino. I should hate them after being stuffed in the backseat of a '71 coupe with my brother and sister, but they are sharp looking buggies!
