E-tek,

What air/fuel gauge did you choose, and how did you come to select that one? I'm in the market for one for my Corvette I'm interested on your opinions and observations on this.

Hey Bender,
After some online research and reading this article at Ford Muscle, I went into my local Speed Shop and asked there. They also said the AEM one was the best. It's a 5 wire unit with a Bosche sending unit for $245. They also had an Autometer but he said it wasn't as good, the meter wasn't as cool looking and it was $399!

I'm going to do the install in such a way that I could move it to another of my vehicles when I want to tune those. After years of "pretending" I was doing something turning the mixture screws in and out, then using a vintage SUN exhaust Gas Analyzer, I though it time to move into the 21st Century!

Here's the bottom-end install. I'll do the top side this weekend.

Here's the sensor unit screwed into the welded bung. Crappy welding conditions equal UGLY welds - and photo's!

I wasn't satisfied with the rear portion of the exhaust set-up, so I cut it off behind the mufflers, moved them closer to the floor, then cut the pipes to go around the gas tank. Now that it's mocked up, I'll let it hang donw while I do the finish-welds. Afer that I can drill for and bolt up the rear sway bar. That's gonna make the boat ride rails!

After it's off the lift the Cougar will replace it and I'll do the electrical work on the Galaxie (A/F gauge and stereo speakers) with it on the ground.

The Cougar is metal-work only - which is kinda lucky- as I have a 3-4 year wait for anyone wanting me to work on their projects.....
