I was posting this up on "the dark side" and realized I never did post it properly here, so at 1900 posts, this one was the beginning of it all.

Pad prep - 1 day...

100_0046.jpg

Cement poured, vibrated and power trowelled all in one day....the poor ****** was trowelling until 3AM!!

From delivering the product, it was up and finished with siding on in 3.5 days...

I recognize Senna, that beautiful American Eskimo. :)

What exactly is the “Dark Side” you speak of?

I find it funny that your wife races cars but she drives a minivan on the streets. It reminds me of how most amateur race car drivers drive old beatup pick up trucks. I guess what I'm saying is never underestimate the skills of the driver filling your rear view mirror (while taking the decreasing radius off-camber on-ramp) in an unassuming car while you're trying your hardest to shake them off.

Looks good, I like my drive through also. Do you have to put on sunglasses when you get a tool from the tool box?

Looks good, I like the skid steer driver also, he could be an excavator some day. I have a concrete slab like yours, a shed I built 10 years ago 20 x 12 in my back yard. The slab has heaved and did screw my trusses up a little. I noticed that you had no footings or even what’s called an "Alaskan Slab". I built mine with out a permit, did you do the same? I use mine for storage (lawn stuff) so no big deal but for a shop it's not so good if one side lifts on you from frost. If the area is very dry and doesn't ever hold water than you have a better chance of it not happening.

Hey e-tek where are you Montgomery? That's a heck of a big shop with what looks like room to spare on the lot. We looked for a long time before an acreage became the only workable option of having the space we needed to do the kinds of things we wanted.

OCG - Although few are talking about it over here, there's a new garag-forum up, run by an ex-GJ member. It's the reason all the old-timers aren't posting much here - some of them are over there.

I totally agree- she can be SCARY in here road car - but I know I'm in good hands (lucky it has a "holy-sh!t" handle though!)

The side lights aren't that bright in reality -just on camera. I'm glad I put them in and always have them on....maybe my eyes are getting weak in my old age!:shocking:

No, we're in Holiday PArk - not far from Montomery. It's a 75x150 lot and the shop went in a corner that was just grass - there's still lots of lot left! SOmeday I'll put a lean-to on the side to park projects!

By the looks of the bugs on the front bumper, it looks like she has run it through the road courses. :lol_hitti

Thanks guys. It's24x40x11. JUST big enough for 4 cars, but I park three in it in the winter so I can turn one around or get one off the lift.

The latest addition I did to my place is a drive through...I need to take some photos of the finished product with both doors open....all I have with doors open are during construction.....I'm not sure, but I think e-tek's idea was stolen for my project...hehehe

I thought I'd take some time to update my shop thread with my fave recent photo's, as well as some of the projects that have gone through it since I've been a member here....

Much of "the family".....

The Chilly-Challenger... this project actually began in my 2-car attached garage and was moved to the big-time in 2006. It took 3.5 years to finish. (Entire thread here: http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=4916353&page=0&fpart=2&vc=1)

At one time it was somewhat less than whole:

Each year now I take on a winter project. Last year was this 66 Ford F100....RUST NEVER SLEEPS. It also eats away at your vehicles very soul...

Whole again and on it's way out, the owner will have it painted soon:

ONE (I'll explain...) of my current projects is my 1971 240Z, which now resides on my homemade rotisserie...

Clean up time! I ended up with a couple "extra" flathead blocks for my '46 Merc yard truck. One is the original, which developed a catastrophic crack and the other was a bad block I purchased in a 2-block set I. The other, good block will be rebuilt as an "original spare" for the 46.

Last winter I swapped in a 53 Flatty so it would stay running... (Entire thread here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5109476&posted=1#post5109476)

I made a whopping $16 at the recyclers this day, not including the stove, which came from our rental property....

Here they are removing the blocks with the giant magnet:

More to come!

Double thumb's up on the challenger and your use of child labor on the car as well as the bobcat work.
Love the drive threw, had one at my last place and thought it was the cat's meow.

Rightyou are - the drive-though can be VERY handy. Plus, if I'm not using it, it's a WALL. But to make sure it's always accessible, I put a tear-down bench that's on wheels and an engine on a stand there. Both are easily moved if I want to access that side.

Hey, you tossed that electric stove? Couldn't the oven have been used for powder coating? Or do you already have the capability?

It would bug me to throw the original block away. No possible way to get it welded? I know welding cast iron is really tough.

You bet! I have a longer drive from the street right through to the lane behind the shop.
This is a shot of the drive from the street (just as it was being re-paved);

Then looking through the shop...

...and the lane in behind (no it didn't snow today!)

Thanks very much. The Chally build was 3.5 years of weekends and holidays and I restored or replaced EVERY last nut, bolt and screw. The only thing I didn't do myslef was machine the block - but I did the engine rebuild, as well as the suspension, interior, dash, paint and polish.

Use the Force Ed. Sorry you will have to explain that one.

Great photos by the way:thumbup:

Yes - Quebec can be a dark, dark place!!

Hey, you tossed that electric stove? Couldn't the oven have been used for powder coating? Or do you already have the capability?

Actually Dan, it was the stove that was the problem. It was in a rental home I own and they had tried everything to get it working. I got them a "new" one for $25, so if I ever want one for powder, it wouldn't cost much. As it is, I don't use powder-coating.

It would bug me to throw the original block away. No possible way to get it welded? I know welding cast iron is really tough.
Oh, it bugged me too! Unfortunately, the crack you could see was the size of the San Andreas fualt, plus there must have been cracks up high in the water jackets - based on the amount of coolant that would flood the oil pan! You can see the crack in the link I provided.

Are you allowed to take down part of the fence to between the alley and your shop so you can drive to/from, or no? In your recent pics, it still looks like you have a fence in the way?

That fence is actually a 16 foot swing-gate. It opens back on itself for an unobstructed drive-through. Here's Mrs E-tek pulling the Challenger in, shot from the alley with the gate open:

Job well done E-TEK, all the way around.Love the ford, but really love the mopar. Excellent attention to detail, you should be very proud of your work. Garage/shop looks well organized and a thought out. I just hope you have a heat source for the winter in there.

Those are Rallye items. I think they where on 72-74 models...Can you post pics of what you do in your shop? That'd be cool!

Nice garage/shop!

What are the plans for the Datsun?

This Datusn was the parts-car to an IP (Improved Production) car I built for my girlfriend (now wife). We campaigned it at Westwood Raceway in Vancouver. The car just won't leave! We towed it from Vancouver to SK and it's sat for 10 years. I tried to sell it with the race car, but the guy didn't have room, so he left it. Have decided to restore it to stock for my sons first car. The only upgrades will be some engine warming upon rebuild and poly suspension bushings. I'd like to do some rally or parking lot racing.

I'd like to have one of them sitting in my garage. For some odd reason I'd love to have a R.H. drive vehicle
