Eagle 60 Gallon Air Compressor

Anyone familiar with Eagle C4160V1 - 5-hp 60-Gallon (12.5 CFM) compressor? I have an opportunity to buy one used and would like some feedback from anyone who owns one. It will be replacing my oiless craftsman 20 gallon unit, so it should be a huge improvement.

I own two Eagle compressors. One is a smaller 3 HP 25 gallon compressor and the other is the bigger brother of the one you're looking at - 5 HP, 60 gallon, 18.5 CFM.

The 60 gallon is in the process of being installed so I can't say yet how I like it. I really like the smaller one though. I've run all kinds of air tools, including HVLP sprayers off it and it has worked well. I've only had it for a few months so I can't say anything about longevity, but it seems like a solid piece of equipment.

12.5 cfm is very low for a 5hp compressor. My Eagle is like Torgorashi's compressor. It is a 5hp and puts out 18.5 cfm. I don't have enough hours on it to know how it will last because it is only 3 years old, but it makes enough air to do anything I could want.

I'd primarily be using it for running standard air tools and filling tires.....could potentially use it with a sander or small sand blaster. How's the noise level?

This is the one I have and it hasn't skipped a beat in 12 yrs and is pressured up and in use daily.

I have the Eagle C5160V1. I have it right in my garage and don't find it to be too loud. Your preferences may vary.

Never given me one problem. I love this compressor. The pump is all cast iron and very quiet. No problem sandblasting or painting with it.

Snap-on was selling, and may still, Eagle compressors rebranded as Snap-on. A good friend of mine has the exact same compressor as mine, but painted red with a big Snap-on logo on it. The owners manual that came hanging on the side of his compressor is an Eagle Manual.

This is the twin cylinder model. I am going to look at it Friday. Owner says $445 is his bottom and it has super low hours, also looks new in the pics. I will hear it run and decide. This is not a steal but I see it advertised on the web for $750 shipped....any thoughts on the $445 price tag?

I think that's a pretty good price. My 18.5 cfm was about 800 brand new.

I think the price is pretty good too.

Probably better quality than one of the big box store compressors.

Ive used this small eagle/iron horse 20 gallon for over 3 yrs always on always ready. I paid 269.00 for it at local farm store then, was built in Canada. Now its built in USA. I run impacts,air ratchets, grinders,ect.. with ease and it recovers very fast with the twin cylinders. Never hear it run inside house,garage is connected to house.
Its not a big enough tank for DA sanding but I dont sand/paint cars so never cared. Iron Horse is Eagles lower end models and the oiless models should be avoided completely.
But some iron horses like mine share the same Iron pumps/ASME tanks as eagles but just have china motors.
In {link #1} If you look at the pumps breakdown you'll see these have the cast iron cylinders/pumps and real rings/pistons unlike most of todays cheaper lines of compressors witch have aluminum pumps with a one piece rod/piston with a large O-ring on it, its a Plunger with a plastic cylinder...What a joke that is! {link #2}.

If I wanted a larger model the one Id buy today is Eagles MaxAir models made in USA. They are brutes!
Eagle has made our military compressors scuba,industrial,Fire & Rescue ect.. for decades. They know how to build compressors. {link #3}

I'll bet that red paint was really expensive.
