I've heard that these were scheduled to be released in May of 2019... so far as of May 12, 2019 I haven't heard or seen anything. Does anyone here know what is going on? I am excited about their release.

From what we've heard from Malco it's going to be another year before these come out.

Very disappointing. I figured something was up when the hardware show ended last week and nothing was released by Malco.

Thanks for the info though!

Why do companies do this? S-K being the worse. Announce a new product when you're ready to ship it. Not when it's just a thought in somebody's head. Just pisses people off when they can't buy what they thought they could.

They're building buzz and distribution networks.

I don't know, but it seems that their marketing departments feel that these sort of releases are helpful, even if we feel that they are frustrating.

Getting a manufacturing process up and running takes longer than a lot of folks seem to realize. A year goes by fast when you're one of the people trying to work out the issues and make consistent quality product.

I'm sure no one would prefer if they start pumping out junk two months from now rather than good tools in a year.

Of course the marketing strategy is a different issue entirely.

Agreed! At the very least, announce it no more than a few months out.

First I've heard of this, I love to hear about jobs coming back. Hope they go above and beyond the quality of the last usa vise grips. The bremen harbor freight pliers are some of the nicest locking pliers I've seen, save for Grip-on pliers maybe.

They have no connection to vise grips correct, didn't buy the rights or anything? Just happened to purchase the same factory, to make the same product? Genius!

I’ve been in email contact with the president of Malco and have am on the list with their R&D department to field test some Eagle Grips for a review in Garage Journal. He said that they are still working out some production bugs but that they should be ready to produce prototype testing pairs soon. Will keep you all posted when I hear more from the company. I’m about 1/2 an hour away from their production plant in DeWitt, Nebraska (the former Petersen Manufacturing Vise Grip plant).

It takes time to start up, get equipment and tooling, train people, work receiving and shipping logistic bugs out though Malco already is a company and set up elsewhere.

That's funny.... I tried emailing them about doing a review and never heard back from anyone. We have a family lake cabin in the same town as Malco's company headquarters (Annandale, Minnesota). I also have two family members who have owned (retired now) large commercial HVAC companies and were in that business for over half a century.... My dad and grandfather bought A LOT of Malco products over the decades! I mentioned both of those facts in my email..... still never heard back from anyone. lol.

I’m also anxiously awaiting the new Eagle Grip locking pliers. I’ve got primarily Peterson Vice Grips in a variety of sizes and styles but could always use a few more.

I’m also curious about the pricing strategy as the imported Vise Grips are $11, and the HF Bremen are $7 before coupon. Can Malco come anywhere close to even the $11 pliers?

The Bremen’s at $5.60 are a fantastic plier.

There was a quote from them somewhere, that stated something along the lines of their pliers will probably be the most expensive, but will also be the best available.

I have no problem paying more for top quality American made tools. They need to get this right.

Bremen locking pliers are the best value...
Grip-on locking pliers are the best locking pliers...

I guess I’m not waiting for Malco anymore. I was excited for quite a while.

Since I don’t “need” any, I’ll probably wait.

That said, I’ve used the Grip-On locking pliers and they’re terrible.
Bremen’s are the best value, and certainly competitive with Milwaukee and other locking pliers.

Next time send a letter. Way too many YouTubers, etc spamming emails at companies now requesting review samples. I doubt they even read your email.

Grip on are maybe a tad better than made in China Irwin vice grip at best. The teeth leaves much to be desired. Might as well go with the Made in Taiwan options like Bremen for now. The eagle grips have a lot to live up to. If the teeth are still as soft and as the Made in China Irwin vice grips, it will be a non starter.

They have a pair of curve jaws. They should pic straight. Will trade 2 curve for a straight.

Zooming in on the pics it appears that they have straight jaws in both the 7” and 10” version. That said I’d take curved 2 to 1 instead.

Just a warning. *grabbing my soap box*

As it's been some time since I've actively posted here, and in the process of setting up tooling for a new shop, I have been in contact with Malco over the new pliers being produced in the Dewitt, Nebraska facility. To say I have been chomping at the bit is an understatement. I've been discussing with them on and off and get occasional email updates but it's been a few months and nothing more.

I agree completely...new units need to have the correct jaw hardness, and superior strength.
This china made garbage Irwin vice-gyps...I have had more than a mouthful of the vile garbage :rocketwhothat Rubbermaid brought fourth, under their Irwin corporate edict to get yet another old American company and take all the machines and tooling to ship them off to china, only to give us sloppy, poorly made garbage made from inferior grades of metal.

I sold American Tool a lot of carbide over the years when I worked for a local industrial distributor out of Omaha, Nebraska.
Along with a lot of their turning tools and vices, among other metalworking items.
The same companies like Rubbermaid, who at the time owned the Irwin group moved Vice Grip overseas with the single minded goal to just get the name brand and produce the tools as cheaply as possible.

Ask any former Dana Axle employees when Dana was stationed in Nebraska and they moved production to Mexico.

Personally, I don't care if they charge $20 a pair of Pliers.
As long as they are a superior product that are made to work and last.

If I sound bitter, it's from being a long time car guy and pulling frames and replacing a lot of sheet metal I would rather go to pawn stores and swap meets and hunt for old true Vice Grips with that "Dewitt, Nebraska" stamping on the handle...because I know THOSE vice grips are actually still tight and usable.

From someone who saw a lot of these over the years, the current crop of locking pliers :Toilet: one might as well go to HF and pick up their pliers.

Bremen is better than Grip-on? I mean, you’re unironically arguing that HF is better than Snap-on? Or are you trolling?

I can see where you're coming from. There may be something wrong to delay the release, hopefully they found a problem and are trying to rectify it. I am ready to purchase some of the *********** Eagle Grips.

I can say without any doubt that Bremen are better than grip on. Teeth last much better, the c clamps are smoother and are tough as nails. For the price they really are hard to touch

I've been waiting for the release of the Eagle Claw pliers.

If HJE will stock them, I'll commit to buying a pair sight unseen. Support American manufacturing and local retailers

How do the German made Bollman grip pliers stack up to the HF or Dewitts ?
Anyone have any experience with these ? HJE sells them ,but I have not tried any yet.
