Hey All,
I lurked around GJ forums for a short while but I had questions when I started and after reading a few threads I had even more ideas and questions. After a few weeks of posting I decided I'd like to share my build.

Location: North Central Minnesota
Oct '06: My wife and I purchased a 20acres of woods from a relative with plans of building a home there in the future. Driveway, power, lot clearing over the next 7years.

June '13 I had a 40x40 area prepped for concrete with intentions of starting ASAP in spring of '14 building my shop and a 3000sq ft home and attached 32x26 garage. As life happens in general it was fall of '14 before we got started.

Sept '14: Foam, Radiant heat tubing, Concrete

Oct '14: 40x40x10 2x6oc Walls with bonus room trusses and scissor trusses in the front so I could get a full 10x10 door in. Once they got it enclosed and the outside finished I had them cease construction and get started on the house. Funds for the shop of course ran over immediately and the ground freezing was a concern for getting the basement/sewer in.

WINTER/SPRING '14/'15: ALL House stuff and the shop got used for storage for things for the new house.

Summer '15: We moved into the new home.

Summer '15 - Summer 16 All small steps: electric, air lines, shelving

Well thats all for now folk...I'll continue this thread as time allows and as Im able to continue making improvements to my shop.

I can't imagine building a shop or house without another structure to keep stuff out of the weather...I'm sure it got way more packed than you wanted but was very useful nonetheless. Looks like you have a headstart on maximizing your truss storage :) good planning!

Minnesota and the garage is not insulated? I'll bet it gets really cold there! Do you have plans for insulation and heat in the garage? If so, how will you deal with your storage configuration in the attic beyond the livable area?

Its not insulated YET. Im really hoping to get it insulated this year but it'll be tough. As far as heat I directly behind my shop (1st pic) right next to the wood pile there is now a large outdoor wood stove water boiler. 1 - 200 foot run feeds the house/attached garage 1 -75foot run will feed the shop. I need to rent a mini excavator to dig in a water line and the heat line. Hopefully in the next month I can get that done on a Sunday afternoon. And yes its gets cold here. Dec 1. - March 1 we wont see a day over 32. Makes it pretty much impossible to actually work on anything unless its 100% necessary.
