I ordered my Eagle MTP-11A about two weeks ago. It delivered last week and I was overwhelmed with the weight. The sales rep at Eagle said my Kubota could get it off the truck but the front bucket couldn't even lift it a bit off the ground. It took lots of luck and tugging with my wife's Jeep to get it off the truck in one piece. Then an easy pull up the driveway and another hour trying to get it over the 1/2" lip into the garage. Wow! I think if they intended these lifts for residential they could package it into 3 or 4 different packages that are manageable rather than one 2000+lbs beast. Those with forklifts I'm sure are chuckling at me now!
I was intimidated by the weight and called several installers and had one come down and help me out today. He charged $650 because he had 4 total hours of commute and he was with me from 10am to 5pm. While it drove my total cost up quite a bit, it was money well spent.
I learned that we should not put a drain in the bay where the lift goes. Not sure if I saw anything like that mentioned specifically but the floor has some slope in it and we managed to shim a little and adjust a little and it’s pretty close. He said he would have skipped the drain and told the concrete guys to make it perfectly flat. My concrete guys knew I was putting a lift in since we went with 6in and rebar. But they never mentioned the idea of the draining not allowing the floor to be flat enough.
I am also glad I procrastinated on painting the floor. Pushing it into the bay when it was a bundled together would have pissed me off when I scratched my new floor paint. Even when we were moving the posts I could see where it might have scratched the floor some more.
Here’s the pic. Overall I am very happy with the finished product.
Please ignore everything else in the garage… since I’m just at the stage of trying to organize clutter.
