Easco tools?

Is there a thread on easco tools already started? I searched for easco in the search function above (both for threads and posts) and didn’t come up with much easco related. It brought up a bunch of threads and posts but not related... so if there is already a thread, I apologize.

Can anyone tell me any info about these wrenches?

I imagine that easco is not the manufacturer but rather a reseller/rebrander(?) I say this because this Napa wrench looks very similar to the easco wrenches.

I had a chance to use them today while messing around on a project, and they don’t feel too bad. Though they remind me of Craftsman RP wrenches.

So, who sold them originally, and are they still available? I wouldn’t mind getting a few more common fractional sized wrenches....

Easco made tools for craftsman, as well as napa, and sold easco branded tools as well.

Easco was a military supplier as well, and you could buy Easco branded tools on base. That's why every other eBay listing for them says "Military", whether it was or not.

I like EASCO tools. I've got several ratchets and a long 3/8" extension.
Mainly because I wanted some RHFT rats but didn't like the Craftsman handles and the EASCO's are round knurled.

Easco ratchets and wrenches were used when I was in Air Force but it depended a lot on location. In the states Easco was at a lot of the Air Force Bases I was at in the mid 1980's. Overseas where I primarily served for my first 8-9 years (mid 1970's to mid 1980's) it was Bonney, Blackhawk and some Globemaster tools. Easco was cheaply made (remember the military was low bid) and yeah they worked OK but no warranty on any tools in the military and as such if it broke it went into the scrap metal bin and another like item was placed into the toolbox.

EASCO was originally the steel supplier to Moore who made Craftsman and other tools. When Moore went out of business, and they were one of EASCO's biggest customers, EASCO stepped in and took over the tool business from Moore. Eventually, the business went to Danaher and then finally to Apex.

I've been picking them up as I find them as well. The combos and the ratchets at least seem well made.
I have a few duplicate fractional sizes that I would be willing to part with if you need them. 9/16", 5/8", 1/4" and some duplicate Metric combos as well. 15, 10, 9mm.

Here's my partial sets and some ratchets, including a K-D 3/8" ratchet.

I've also got a nice 1/4" drive set.

Yes, if one has seen Craftsman, one has seen Easco. They're good user tools, but certainly nothing special.

Bumping to ask if anyone has an Easco wrench list? The more I dig into Easco, the more interesting stuff I find. Would love to see an older catalog (prior to Gearwrench) but have not been able to find one on Archive.org or other sources.

I did find the attached 'Air Force Warranted Hand Tool Program' from 1986 that has some interesting reading at the beginning about Easco government contracts and some part numbers at the end. Still a long way from a full wrench list, but it is a start.

@piehammer - ITCL currently has this catalog snippet available.

That's a snip from the ATS (Aircraft Tool Supply) catalog, so not all the items on those pages are necessarily Easco.

and some part numbers
Those are Easco's part numbers (4th column from left) that they went to when they changed to an all-numeric part numbering system.
So... the 71-1206 (page 30 in that *.pdf file) is their 1/4" drive, 6-inch extension.
I would assume the same would apply on the wrenches (in respect to the assignment of part numbers.)
Looks like we have a shortage of Easco documentation.

Agreed. Not sure if the list I started is better as it's own thread or if it should continue here, but I hope we can pull a good list together.

^ looks like a hell of a good start. you sure they punched a 1/4" and 5/16" combo in 12 points? Usually those are 6 points, although I DO have here somewhere an NOS Duro/Indestro 5/16" 12-point combo.

Yessir.
1727795790976.png

Craftsman did the same thing, they only had 6pt combos later in the VA line, all combos before that were 12pt as far as I know.
The only Easco 6pt I've found so far is a 9/16" part number 63-818 so I need to add that to the list as well.

Here's my EASCO combo sets from the family of EASCO, NAPA and Master Mechanic. The 7/16 is Master Mechanic, and all are 12 point except the 3/4. It looks like the 13/16 could use a cleanup. I got all of them from different vendors at one of the Carlisle shows last year. I only have the combo's and think the dart shape is cool. My EASCO family ratchets will come another day.
