Eastern NC Blank Slate

Hello,

Been lurking the forum and getting inspiration for a bit now. Finally got my metal "shop" built after years of planning and saving. It's nothing special, but it's a blank slate for me that should fit my needs for storage, wrenching, and just man-caving. My short term goals are to get power run (using extension cords at the moment), insulate the walls, install some type of wall sheathing, and build a storage loft along the back wall.

Can anyone point me to some build threads for similar structures? I'm mostly interested in seeing how others have insulated theirs and added walls. It's going to be a slow build for me, but something I'm really looking forward to.

Hello from Snow Hill....Someone will chime in I guess , welcome to the forum. Mine is also stick built so no help. It is the main reason I didn’t go that route and I was just about to and changed my mind.
Don’t say it’s not special, it’s great and it’s yours...you will make it into a great spot. Getting power to it will be part of the plan and try to incorporate it into the insulating plan , I mean before you put any coverings on the walls.
Did you plan for power with a conduit in the concrete?

I don't have conduit in the concrete. My assumption is that I'll power it off a circuit in the house breaker, buried cable, and then have some sort of junction box on the exterior where the cable enters the building. I'm not sure if that's a normal/safe way of doing things though... I'm a mechanical engineer and very proficient with nuts and bolts, but construction/home electric aren't intuitive to me since I'm still pretty new with it.

I reckon if you’re doing it without a permit you can do whatever works just make sure it is safe.
