Had a HVAC technician out to fix the mini-split heat pump at the shop today. While he was here had him sort out the electric furnace in the shop area of this building. Simple part replacement and all four heating coils are working as they should.

Ordered an Ecobee 3 lite thermostat so I can control the temperature and keep an eye on things remotely this winter..

This is going to be a slow moving, long term project. It's my lowest priority, especially while the apartment is rented. With that said, I try to do a little something every few months. I bought a Liftmaster 8500 for one of the doors a while back. I'll install it.. soon ish.

What a sweet place that you found. I too prefer to have a small living space and tons of garages. I like the fact that you opened up the garage more by removing the walls.

Finally got my point-to-point wireless link up and running. This extends my main shop network down to this building. Shoots the signal about 1.5 blocks away with line of sight, with trees blocking. Working well at around 260Mbps. This allows me to run cameras over the wireless back to my camera server.

I also got the ecobee thermostat up and running. It will keep the temps at 45F (the lowest setting they allow).

A little at a time..

That wireless link is pretty slick. I'm gonna have to do a little research on that.

I used two Ubiquiti NBE-5AC-19 NanoBeams. It works well!! Put an older WiFi access point in bridge mode on the remote end (this building).

Chipped away at a couple items over the last little while. Now that I have the network link up I have remote indication and control of the heater thermostat, a couple of lights that provide backlighting for the security cameras, and the LiftMaster garage door openers.

I got the LiftMaster 8500 installed on the door I park my nice truck in. This is the only roll up door of the three that the service guy was able to get adjusted correctly. Looks like the previous owner installed some cobbled together doors. So, one opener until I can get new doors and that’s pretty low on the priorities.

I want to get weather stripping for all of the roll up doors installed when I have time to pick some up. Should help keep the cold, bugs and dust out.

I installed a couple Z-Wave switches and added them to my home automation system. Now the lights are automatically triggered when I open and close the garage door :)

A little at a time, here and there..

I've been looking for a place like this for years. It seems a lot of other folks are as well. Places are few and far between, or are far from my home. I am so jelly.

The buildings are out there. In my case, not many people waiting in line to move to this remote town. I love it, but it's not for everyone.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment guys!

Managed to sneak a couple hours in the sun and get the roll up door weather stripping installed.

Before after showing the huge gaps these sealed up:

Did a little trading.. going to get some new lighting installed soon.

A great friend is going to help replace all of the toilet hardware as soon as FedEx figures out where they mis-delivered them.

I have the furnace set to maintain temperature 35-38F for the winter.

G'day, Love your purchase, actually jealous is a better word!
Anyhoo, have you contemplated the thought of a pitched roof/attic. Great storage area and would give you the height over the hoist, also it could be engineered to remove the centre posts.
But don't stop, we are all loving it.

Good friend of mine helped out with some much needed plumbing work. The original two piece toilet is completely rebuilt and good for another several decades.

The new flushing ell allowed raising the tank a bit to emphasize the two piece thing.

The original porcelain cleaned up so well.

The outside hose bib supply comes up out of the floor. 1/2 pipe cast in. It has seeped a tiny bit of water the whole time I’ve owned the building. This is what we removed:

There’s an inside shut off valve for the exterior hose bib. Inside bib will fill a mop bucket. It was sure nice having the heat going today.

One thing at a time.. here and there.

It's great that you were able to salvage/save the 2 piece toilet. If it had been me, I wouldn't have touched that nasty thing without a Hazmat suit and significant PPE:)
