Eastwood brand?

When looking for light duty / hobby grade industrial shop tools (sheet metal tools, bandsaws etc) Eastwood often pops up in searches.

At the price point I know most are going to be Chinese tools, but I'm wondering where they fit in quality / service compared to Harbor Freight, Grizzly, Northern Tool etc.

Understand many of these tools are made in the same factory just different colors / branding but price / brand does tend to reflect better / worse quality control / warranty for essentially the same item.

I did a search but only came up with single items, nothing giving a general impression of the company's customer service, and quality.

I am not sure how Eastwood products would compare to harbor freight in prices. Eastwood always seemed pretty much in the middle as far as prices went at least for air compressors.

My experience with Eastwood has been great- comprehensive selection of products and attractive pricing -until I go to check out and find out that shipping is almost as much as the merchandise!

Unlike a lot of e-commerce retailers, Eastwood seems to be way behind the curve on shipping costs. No flat-rate shipping, no free shipping, seems like they're paying as much as I would walking up to the counter as an individual consumer. :headscrat

Hope they get a handle on this. I responded to a survey they sent me, their "personal" response was only available if I opened an account on some third-party consumer feedback website

With few exceptions, much of what Eastwood sells are the same Chinesium tools that everyone else sells under different brand names. One obvious example is this brake line flaring tool. EVERYONE sells this exact same tool, and prices vary by a factor of two or more. FYI, it's a great tool - you can't make a bad flare with it - but I got mine for less money than Eastwood's price. Mine just doesn't have that little Eastwood decal in the center of the mandrel wheel.

With the interwebs, I just shop around and look for the best deal (including shipping and/or taxes). For example, everyone sells the same shrinker/stretchers. I got mine from Woodard Fab for less money. At the same time, both Woodard and Eastwood sell this same bar stock bender (though the paint color is different), but Eastwood is about $40 cheaper.

The tools that I have purchased from Eastwood work fine and I have no complaints.

Some of the Eastwood and Woodward are the same as HF, but with HF you have to sort through a lot of junk products. In other words, Woodward and Eastwood seem to do a better job of vetting their product line than HF does.

HF is often cheaper than the same tool available elsewhere, if you don’t mind sorting through their junk products.

My HF bandfile looks identical to the Eastwood model except for color. I used a 25% coupon and paid a lot less and it works fine out of the box BUT if it fails after 90 days I probably would have been better off with Eastwood. My Eastwood 3 pc strut spring compressor is the same as the OEM brand tool. The price was about the same. JEGS carries a lot of Eastwood. I always enjoy stopping in the Pottstown, PA store when I am in the area.

Pretty much the response I expected, but nice to have that confirmed. I will consider them when shopping for tools in this particular tool genre. :)

Thanks
