I know this topic has been discussed before, but I have not found any info here about this particular hose reel. I have been checking out the Eaton 3/8" 50 foot hose reel and it looks nice. The price is good and most people seem like to like Eaton and there quality. Is there any reason that I should go with another manufacturer such as Reelcraft, Lincoln, BendPack/Ranger...etc? Personally I dont mind spending a few extra $$ if it is worth it!

By the way does anyone know any good priced Reelcraft dealers?

BendPack/Ranger

Lincoln Lubrication

Thanks for the info!

Feel free to look at www.standardus.com I'm pretty sure you will find Lincoln, Reelcraft, Alemite and Balcrank very competitive.
It looks like the Eaton unit is a Chinese product...I've seen that same reel under several manufacturers like Plews, Ranger and I think Greg Smith has it as well. I have no idea what the quality is.

I'm now up to 5 of the 7XXX series ReelCraft reels and I think that they are great. I have 3 50'X1/2" and 2, 50'X3/8" I also have a 7400 and 5400 series welding hose reels. I'm thinking about converting the 7460 model to another air hose, and use the 5425 on my larger tank cart. You can get them for a good price ( second to last 7850 was new and $83.00 plus $35.00 for shipping) if you are not in a hurry. I have been buying them for a few years now.

I'm shopping for a reel now, and can't decide on 1/2" hose or 3/8" hose. What do you recommend?

I went with Coxreels based on the experiences of another forum member here... You can definitely beat their prices if you buy something from China, but you would be hard pressed to beat their quality from ANY other manufacturer. I think you will be happy with any of the industrial reels out there; I spent a few extra bucks on a Coxreels. Reelcraft also makes some high quality stuff. These two manufacturers are both domestic- is Lincoln? Any others?

I know this thread is long dead and over but I just wanted to say I bought a CoxReel about 5 yrs back and absoluetly love it if anyone cares..lol
Its one that mounts on the side of a wall rather than on a ceiling hanging down. I mounted it on a piece of 1/2 in plywood and screwed it to the inside garage wall.

The side mounted versions only have two issues.
1st} You "must" let them reel in slower or the hose falls of to the side of the reel because they have no alignment plate on them.
The benifit of this no alignment design is they can unwind in front and back either way by either pulling the hose over top or under the reel. Over top mine unwinds out the small rear garage man door to back yard for mowers ect.. and normal direction, unwind hose under it the hose unwinds out my main garage door to driveway for cars.
I screwed 2 large ? shaped hooks about 2ft in front/rear of the reel and run air hose through them and it keeps hose straight while rewinding. Works very well, speeds rewinds up alot but you still cannot let loose of hose allowing it to speed rewind. I just hold onto the hose and it rewinds by itself.
Really nice setup and coxreels are real brutes used in shops for decades.

2nd issue} Be aware the side reels can only be mounted on one side of the reel and must be ordered for the side you need. Left or right mounting "only" setups on them.
I just didnt want to move cars out of my garage to unwind/wind an air hose from the ceiling. Besides I got about 6-7 extra feet from the same hose length by not being on ceiling. Great reels!

The all steel made in USA ReelCrafts are fantastic too and last decades as well so witchever ones less $$$..Both grade A products..
All the china models I saw people buy lasted a yr or two and thats it. Internal springs break easy and parts are not available and also the inside fittings leaked so bad making compressors run more. Not worth messing with really IMO.
Hope this helps someone with their choice.
