I am looking at buying a 2-stage 60 gallon 7.5 hp Eaton compressor. Does anyone know anything about the company or product?

$20 says Jim will chime in here! :lol_hitti

Oh you know me too well

Yeah, I have a single stage 5hp, second one listed on the page (5hp, 7.5 hp pump, I ordered witha 60 gallon) Its an awesome machine for the price. Is it a high end champion or a quincy? No, but consideringit was half the price its a sweet deal. The thing is much more quiet than The similarly rated Ingersoll rand compressors. No major problems so far, had it almost a year now. That one puts out 20 cfm, and was about 1200 delivered. I recommend ordering the automatic belt tensioner, and the extended oil drain (keeps things neat)

One thing I found out after words, is that thier pumps are made in china, BUT the saving grace is unlike harbor frieght pumps, they stock all parts, so if something every goes wrong, I can just order the part I need.

Customer service is awesome too (when you call you can ask for Matt... youll be talking to the owner) This one got a few small scratches being unloaded from the truck, and they sent me touch up paint, which I recieved in 3 days. They were also very patient with me asking aabout a million questions about thier machines and compressors in general. They sure know how to keep thier customers happy.

As for quality, I cant say anything about them long term, but My friends dad owns a sweeping, striping, sealcoating buisness, and they use a big eaton compressor to power all thier 3/4 and 1 inch guns to maintain thier "fleet" Hes had it for like 5 years and no complaints.

A really "beefy" unit, shipping wieght almost 600 lbs :willy_nil (makes it a b*tch to move around)

Im not claiming it to be a High end Champion or a good quincy, but at half the price, its an awesome deal for somebody who needs a ton of air but doesn thave a huge budget. If I was runnign a factory, Id probably go for a high end IR rotary screw or something, but its great for a home shop

I have to agree with Jim! I have the same pump he does and have had no issues with it. I have it on a an 80 IR tank. The IR took about 3 minutes longer to fill the tank and ran way hotter. The Eaton is also a lot quieter. My $0.02

And all this from the China basher! And look what the guy goes and does. Buys a chineese built pump. GOOD JOB. And yep, they got the parts cause your going to need them.

For $899 you can do what Elroy did: Go to Sears and buy a TWO STAGE compressor. A IR compressor NOT BUILT IN INDIA with 15,000 hour bearing life.

It's a factory engineered system and backed by Sears and one of the largest compressor manufactures in the WORLD. Not assemblied by some guy in his garage. I picked a TS4L5 on a code 60 gallon tank. And if you you don't like the TS series get a "Type 30". They're a real piece of **** because Rand has only been building them sense 1929.

I read all the hype at the the Eaton web site and the e-bay adds. The guy makes some good points. But Elroy didn't buy just because of the pumps looked to, lets say Cheap.

Time will tell, but Elroy has been in the tool and die trade for a long time and the quality of the IR castings is top notch! A totally new design for Rand and they hit the market with a storm. I can't say I'm real impressed with the Eaton stuff. The guy is an independent and he is small fish so ya he is really going to try and please his customers. In 15 years when you need to rebuild is he going to be around? I bet IR is.

And one last thing: I had a small 2 hp quincy on a 20 gallon tank. It just runs and runs and runs. Good little unit but I grew out of it and needed something bigger. I looked for 2 years before I bought. My second choice was a "Toledo". It was a two stage pump BUT it only went to 150 psi:

Elroy, I found out it was chinese AFTER I got it, oh well. Its like my computer, nothing I can do now.

Also, Toledo is the counterpart of Curtis... Toledo makes nailers and stuff as well. Somebody on heres got one.

Elroy would have thought that would have been the first question you asked. Oh well its yours now. But don't worry. I'm sure it works just fine. I just picked a Rand that's all. It sure is great that you have a choice in the good ole US of A.

Thanks for all the replies. I am not sure what to do! You guys all make good points. Some Chinese stuff is top notch now but I like to buy American if I can. IR has been around a long time but others have said their quality is slipping.

But yes, Elroy, I dont know why I didnt actually ask that first. I know my tank is USA made and its Code. I dont claim it to be a quincy, but even so, It doesnt get used on a daily basis, and An equally rated compressor from Curtis or Champion would have been almost twice as much. Good 'nuff.

I have been shopping around too, but up here (Alaska) we have a limited choice unless you don't mind the shipping $$$$. There is a sale on a 60 Gal IR with a 3hp motor 230V, $700.00 is the sale price, I just am not sure of the quality
