eBay 80 piece socket tray

I ordered this awhile ago on eBay, came slow boat from china and took a full month to arrive. It seems sturdy, holds 80 pieces and was under $18 shipped. It had one broken clip when it arrived. I know everyone is always looking for better ways to store stuff so I thought I'd share.

No offence to the OP, but I'm going to say the plastic keepers on the Lowes item will hold sockets better than the thin metal ones. JMO, as I've had those metal type before and they tend to bend and come off the rail when you grab a socket.

No offense taken. You might prove to be right in time. One of the clips was broken on receipt. But the rest seem pretty solid. I intentionally pulled sockets on and off and at least initially it is performing well

Have never had that problem. Have nine (9) of them in my top drawer. I do pay almost double for these from Matco.

I also have three of the Lowe's units and am quite happy with them. That being said, I have also tried the $ 0.99 Units from Harbor freight and understand exactly where the "Chinese-made" criticism is coming from. I also have Snap-On, Proto & MATCO metal units and have never experienced a failure with any of them.

Message: "You get what you pay for". - That is all.

I use the same style trays as OP because you can use the clips from the cheapo socket rails at Harbor Freight

I have used the metal rails with the metal clips for years, after a while they do loosen up.

The better ones have metal clips with square edges which hold in socket drive firmer than the rounded style.
If you keep them upright and in box then cheaper type can be better as don't fight with the sockets so much
These are easily found for 15 bucks online and as said around 20 retail outlet .
