eBay auction issue with Snap On

Folks,
Need some advice here - thanks in advance. I bid and won a set of Snap On wrenches three days ago. Yesterday, a notice from eBay shows up that the auction was canceled and they give generic reasons.:( I emailed the seller and he says that Snap On has been giving him the "trademark infringement" scenario when he sells items. He had good feedback and responded to my question. Is this common? I am trying to find out if he was a dealer in the past or put something in the auction to piss Snap On off. Have you guys (gals) ever seen anything like this? Would you still purchase? Thanks

Dave

By the way Krusty, they were flare nut wrenches - I had to try some!

I really hope SO isn't trying to manipulate the market. While they can protect their dealer network, a problem arises when they act unchallenged, using methods that are not legal under consumer and trade law.

If there's a contract, then of course, but let's see how far this goes with them.

Rolex started manipulating the market, even as far as having US Customs examine watches coming in and confiscating them.

They are pulling auctions that are listed as NEW. If you paid by paypal, and do not get your items, you can file a claim with them.

There was a thread almost identical to this one, about a week ago. In other words, it looks like S-O auction cancelling is an emerging trend.

I just found it - sorry about the partial repeat. Based on the previous thread and what I am reading here, I will probably go ahead with the purchase and let you guys know how it goes. Thanks

If you have not paid, I would advise you not to. you may not be elligible for paypal protection. It looks like ebay pulled the auction... not sure why. You are under NO obligation to buy at this point.

eBay likely pulled the auction due to Snap-On's nonsense. If the seller has good feedback, and is willing to sell the item outside of eBay and you want it, by all means, purchase it.

PayPal's protection isn't limited to eBay sales only.

Could it be that Snap-on pulled the auction because the seller spelled Snap-on without a hyphen???? Out of curiosity, you might want to ask the seller if it was pulled due to a VERO violation, and if so, what it was.

Merk - I hope those aren't them! Actually the guy is in New Mexico that I bought from and he shipped them out today and sent me the UPS tracking number. Also, I did not get the holder, but only one wrench was used a couple of times and for $67.11 shipped, I could not complain about the holder.
Thanks for all the replies - it appears that SO is just trying to stick it to sellers for some reason. Take care

Happy ending - Wrenches showed up today and were as described. It looks as if only two of them had ever been on a flare fitting.

I had a similar issue with ebay and Directv and I was the seller.

I started selling some old Directv receivers. These were receivers I paid for (not the typical leased ones). Directv had eBay pull all my auctions after I had winning bidders. They never refunded any of my fees. Long story short, everything was worked out 2 months later.

I discovered, Directv pays an outside company that runs software on Ebay scanning for anything Directv related. They then forward all of the listings to the Directv fraud department and they sift through it. My auctions were mistakenly flagged.
