Ebay Dual 80's - Knock Offs ??

I bought a few ebay Dual 80's and noticed that they may be blems or knock offs with snap on guts.

On your F80, FL80, S80, SL80, FLF80's and FKF80's does it say patent pending on the handle ? My SHLF80 does as well as my SX80 which were from the truck. None of my ebay ones do.

They are dual 80 guts through and through as best I can tell but the cases look to all have a few minor blemishes and with the worst being the flex heads which are both cast off to one side.

Thoughts ?? :headscrat

Dunno, you need one? I have a bent handle flex head somewhere in my toolbox I got a few years ago from a friend that I have never used.

I don't understand why if someone is asking for clarification if there is a defect with the new tool(s) they just bought, why then, would one ask if they wanted to purchase one from you? If you own one of the tools in question, why not go look in your tool box and and try to answer the question at hand rather than try to pawn off one of your unneeded tools?

I didn't see where he bought it actually, I thought he was looking to buy an ebay unit. Sorry on that one. I'm monitoring 2 radios, 3 phone lines, doing some college training, watching TV and surfing this all at the same time. haha.

I don't see where I was trying to sell anything. I asked him if he wanted one that I didn't need.

I'm guessing that the duel 80 is something brand new? Maybe what I have isn't that then. Sorry don't keep up to date on the tools too much... I'm not much of a Snap On fan though most of my tools are Snappy.

Just gotta say I'm sorry for popping off a snarky reply so quick.

Have fun wrenching all, its bedtime for me.

I will post a picture right after work. They both sag to left quite a bit. They still work great just look really odd. I did not notice right away but now that I do, its all I can see :lol_hitti

Can you guys have a look at your Dual 80's and tell me which ones have the USA patent pending information on the handles beside the part numbers. My truck purchased SHLF80 and SX80 do and are flawless however my ebay purchased F80, FL80, FLF80, FKF80, S80, SL80, T72 and TL72 do not and appear to have less than perfect castings.

I was thinking somebody could make some money knocking off SO handles / heads and dropping SO guts in them. More likely these were factory rejects.

It has been known for some Chinese companies to rip off a high value product and wholesale them to real scumbags who then sell them on at knock down prices as the real product...............Rolex & Tag to name two

If they are doing it, they are using genuine snap on internals. They look and feel identical.

I don't know if it's the picture or what, but the flex head does seem to be "tilted". It doesn't look to be sitting square.

Its not the picture, the heads are cast/ forged tilted over like they melted.

Where the machining is done to make room for the guts , there is noticeably more meat to one side. I can take better pictures later. Its only on the two flex heads.

I looked at mine briefly, but I will need to double check.

I have a FHOF80 (ebay) - soft grip, bent handle, flex head
FHX80 (truck) - soft grip, locking flex head
FKF80 (truck) - stubby flex head

On the black cover plate, they all say PAT PENDING

The FHOF80 from ebay says nothing on the handle except the part number. There is no pat pending, or patent number.

The FKF80 is the same, just the part number, with no pat pending or pat number.

The FHX80 has an actual US patent number.

Cool. False alarm. Thanks for checking.

So it is just my flex heads that are a bit wonkey. Both have an identical curve to them too.

Anybody else have the odd flex head shape ?

They all work like a dream regardless. I doubt after some serious use and scratching etc that I would even notice the defect.
