Here's an interesting find on a quality torque wrench I recently came across. I missed out on the CDI-branded torque wrench this same seller was selling (and that too --- much better condition, almost like new, turned out to be $65 for the whole bundle)

Also Includes One Ratchet and 50 Misc. Sockets

I skipped out on the listing because based on one of the pictures, it didn't appear that the torque wrench was stored at the lowest torque setting (thus requiring another $30 for calibration)

eBay Listing for CDI-- http://www.ebay.com/itm/30201620440...561ed668fea&bu=43385903619&cp=1&sojTags=bu=bu

Here's the Wright Tool Torque Wrench (same exact one as the CDI, just rebranded)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wright-Tool...416402?hash=item4651f05812:g:aXwAAOSwTZ1XlEGe

$65 (Includes Shipping)

I've asked the seller as to when the last these torque wrenches were calibrated, unfortunately the response was puzzling, but was told that they were used in low-torque applications in a bike shop

I can't tell what brand those sockets or the ratchet are, but with them included, that deal is pretty sweet. Looks like a KD ratchet??

The ratchet looks rather reminiscent of those Danaher used to sell through Kobalt, Allen, and Craftsman

It's hard to distinguish the manufacturer of the sockets, it almost appears as if there is significant chrome loss

The ratchet looks mint. The CDI-torque wrench from his other listing looked barely used whereas this Wright torque wrench seems a little used (based on the picture)

I wouldn't be surprised if this active listing ends at $50+$15 (shipping). It's a good deal for a 3/8" Drive (10-100 ft lbs, which is considered the sweet spot), I'd just be concerned about calibration.

I hope its just spray paint :bounce:
May be I can just warranty them because of chrome loss...

What's your take on used torque wrenches? Is it worth a bid? :3gears:

There seems to be mixed opinions as it may vary from case to case; in this case, these listings appear to be posted by a genuine seller, 100% feedback, but returns are not accepted according to the item description.

It's a gamble between getting a torque wrench ready out of the box compared to a torque wrench which has the potential to yearn for calibration

Calibration certificate is missing by the way

The only parameter which is making me avoid Precision Instruments is the missing metal end cap as well as lack of a Newton Meter scale on the torque wrench

Other than the maroon spray paint lol.

Wow, that makes the deal even sweeter then. I'm pretty sure one can skip out on the sockets and request the seller to reduce shipping charges.

I'm interested why no one has added this listing to their Watch List. It's definitely worth a try if you have the time. Otherwise, if you're in the immediate need for a torque wrench, buy New, as you'll be rest-assured that the next calibration due is 50,000 clicks away (provided its handled with care)

That does look like an Allen ratchet.. see here:

^That Allen set has been listed for well over a month now, with no takers.
$13 bucks including shipping, clean, complete, virtually new, in the original box.

GJ member ssdave made a comment in another thread a few months back about Ebay sales during the summer. Sales of used US-made hand tools on Ebay right now ****. I wouldn't want to be an Ebay seller depending on Ebay sales for a living right now.

here's a really nice PROTO 1/4" drive set (as I recall about $160 from Amazon) that's going to sell for $35 in about an hour from now. So far there is ONE bid on it:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/252470275962?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

it's like that across the board right now.
run searches on what you're looking for. use the "advanced" search feature to exclude stuff you DON'T want to look at.
the stuff is NOT moving, guys. it's a buyer's market right now.

a couple days ago a #2797 Indestro 3/8" drive universal joint sold for $4.00 with one bid. I bought one about 6 months ago and paid about $11.00 plus shipping.

just one of many examples of what I've been seeing the last few weeks:

Thorsen 11-pc 3/8" drive SAE socket set w/original box.
3/8" - 3/4"
used. clean
99 cents + $5.25 shipping now. 1 bid now. ends Sun. 07/31
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-THO...740781?hash=item543499b26d:g:KEoAAOSwdzVXl-Kv

picked up an old hex-drive Indestro set (sockets and ratchet) a couple weeks ago for exactly $1.00 + $6.20 shipping. excellent condition.
same/same with most of the purchases lately. crazy cheap.

The 1/4" Drive Toptul ratchet is alright, but not extraordinary. For the price, its definitely worth it though. Harbor Freight doesn't come close to Toptul Craftsmanship. :)

If you contact him directly outside of eBay, he'll give you better pricing too on his Toptul stuff.
