Is it just me or does that ratchet not match the pic on the packaging? Looks like the finger spinner is missing.

Yes indeed! I know some came with a finger spinner but mine (bought new) didn’t either though it has the little slot for you to install one.

^ a lot of ratchets were marketed during the 1970s with a plastic "finger spinner" included with the ratchet (or socket set.)

here it's touted as a "Ratchet Speed Adaptor":

STRATCO-LINER SL-6211 1/2" drive open-gear ratchet 10-inch handle (rebranded Thorsen 77 ??)
very used
$19.95 + $5.99 shipping OBO "Buy now"
* seller just shot me an offer of $12.95 *
YMMV
I bought the Straco-Liner ratchet. Based on the part number, it looks to have been supplied by P&C. I thought it was Thorsen too.IMG_3362.jpegIMG_3361.jpeg

This is where I got my AmPro 10-32mm wrench sets $49.50 incl shipping

My Ampro 10-32mm 1/2 inch socket set for $75 incl shipping

This seller seems to have quite a bit of new/old stock AmPro stuff and doesn't seem to charge for shipping.

detached garage; rarely have keys on me when home, don't like batteries.
pros: no batts, no keys
cons: pot metal, normally open requires entering password, need to drill new holes. They also sell these in ss w/a less awkward normally open switch for those looking:

I know the ad says 'nylon' and 'plastic' in a few pics but it also says aluminum in the ad itself. The grain looks like it may be cast; I'll update when I get them:

1713746739240.png
ok, just got them. Super flimsy box so I think I lost 3 mounting nut. Listing has two sets of bolts and nuts though I don't know why (only got one set of nuts and bolts). I'll contact seller and see if I'll get a buck or two back.

Cast metal body (Al though I suppose it could be zinc too). nylon wheel, rubber pad over zinc core. Ratcheting mechanism is nice.

edit: To anyone that gets these, the bolts and bearings were well greased, the ratchets are not (maybe they should be?). I'd recommend pulling the raising feet and cleaning of any burrs (maybe replacing grease w/anti-seize?). One of mine was a bit rough to start but fine after
clearing the debris. Make sure not to insert them cocked as you can damage the threads when putting them back in.

update: got 5$ refund for missing hardware.

if by finger spinner we're talking integral thumb wheel, my favorites are the proto, followed by some Taiwan craftsman line from the 90's, followed by some Craftsman line from the 80's made by some other American comp, followed by the husky.

proto & taiwan line have the wheel in the correct place, taiwan craftsman had very decent chrome finish but loses to proto in terms of smoothness. Outsourced craftsman from the 80's had the wheel in the wrong spot and felt notchy but forging is nice. Husky feels very notchy...I amost want to say it's the same factory as Taiwan Craftsman but feeling just isn't the same imo.

Been wanting one of these since I saw some reviews videos maybe a yr ago. They were a bit pricier @ 70ish plus back then. That price range gets you a 4" twin now.

1714214828845.png

This just got in. Looks fairly well built well ground and well cast. Bathed in oil so the paint job had some imperfections. My deburring tool got quite the work out today getting all those edges chamfered. I was worried it'd be too small but it's the right size for a large-ish bench or floor drill press. Plenty of iron dust caked on the underside too.

The downside I didn't foresee is, this being a machining vise, it takes quite a few more spins to open/close the jaws than your typical drill press vise. Powered screwdriver w/appropriate hex bit may come in handy.

Powermatic 143 wood metal bandsaw for auction in Connecticut ending this Sunday. Currently it is at $115.

This is a nice US made 14” bandsaw that is quite stout at 450 pounds weight with a stiff one piece iron frame casting. Compare this to the Rockwell 14” wood metal band saw at 170 lbs and a much less stiff 2 piece design.

I also like the simple drive design with a big 2 speed gear box and a 4 speed pulley with a speed range of 40 to 3000 sfm .

while the fit of the sheet metal on mine was not the best, 30 minutes with a file elongating a few mounting holes fixed everything.

I spotted this in this morning’s search. If I didn’t have several spares already I would go for this. Better pictures would be nice.

Icon stubby locking flexhead bit ratchet kit, $25

——-

@ching0n are you saying you like the ratchets with a thumb spinner wheel in the back? If so I have a recommendation for you. This was made by a Japanese company called Top that is still in business today. I have one with this mechanism but a stubby handle and think it works well.

looks to me like the hand wheel is both in the front and back?

FWIW, I've found the swivel a bit finicky, as if the mating surfaces weren't ground completely parallel so sometimes one of the bolts has to be loosened more than the other in order to have uninterrupted rotation. I haven't done a flatness check on the surfaces but it could be a sticking point for someone requiring high precision. I do recommend cleaning up all the burrs to avoid any such interference.

Awesome deal @ 42$

Note, I've also noticed a range of prices on items from the same vendors so wonder if some of the lower priced items just didn't pass QC in some way. My link is now @ 51 but it's by no means the highest listing price either. Do chime in when you get yours to see if there's anything noticeably off w/it.

Mine arrived today, I removed the base and cleaned all the parts. I didn't feel any burrs. Added grease to the vice screw and to the top of the base and connecting bolts so it's not scratching the bottom of the vice when rotating. I did notice that if I don't loosen the bolts enough that one tightened up after about 180˚ of rotation. I did not do a flatness check. Also removed the cheesy Vevor sticker.

I love it! Thank you for posting it.

I wonder if it's a matter of the bolt head cocking sideways a bit once loosened making which ever is leading to drag more and cause a bind?

FWIW: threw one of these (12mm) on an amazon special electric screwdriver I had gotten a while back and it works a treat to move those jaws. I don't think I'll ever question getting a cheap powered screwdriver again:

kind of an odd one, but if you do some price comparisons, this looks like a fairly decent deal:

INDESTRO 2363 3/4" drive 18-inch sliding T handle
used
$34.99 incl. shipping OBO "buy now"
seller just sent me an offer of $29.74

MIXED LOT 17 pieces punches and chisels
(see photos)
used.
* excellent seller *
this may or may not be a "deal" - depends upon how high it gets bid up:

$4.25 + $13.55 shipping now. 4 bids now. ends Sat 06/01

I got tired of waiting on Kobalt to get their shix together (loooks like 3d printed base). Cheapest I've found for this batt platform (even cheaper for Dewalt/Milwaukee) from other vendors:

1715457340695.png

Bauer also has the above but they also have other interesting tools:

1715457441400.png

as does B&D

1715457500556.png
I thought I'd update. Adapters are 3d printed, fit was fine, the buttons jam a bit being that it's 3d printed so who knows how long they'll last.

The heat gun is the small type (I did not notice and assumed the larger type) so I would not recommend and just go w/a bauer w/an adapter if you need one. It should serve for fine work (electrical maybe) but the mount is also 3d printer and the fit was a bit tight so had to file for it to work w/my bateries.
