I'm not the seller..... but I just bought one. :bounce:

Insanely good price on Wilton 1765 (63201) 6-1/2" Tradesman vises.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wilton-6320...nd-Channel-Vise-with-Swivel-Base/301827881748

As of right now they have two left for $265.00 with free shipping. This model generally sells for $450 to $550 on eBay (lowest I saw was $315 for one). When I spotted it the listing showed 4 sold in the last hour. I doubt the last two will last long. Hopefully its not a hacked account or anything. But eBay and PayPal are pretty good about refunding payments if something turns out to be a scam (plus I funded the payment with a credit card for extra security just in case).

Edit........ not even 15 minutes later and the last two are gone!

I've shipped and bought a lot of stuff from Canada. If it's coming into the US, I've never seen or heard of anyone being hit by duties. If it's going to Canada, it's almost guaranteed to get duties if you ship via UPS, USPS rarely gets duty charged...but USPS will get it to the border in 2-3 days, Canada Post will take 2 to 14 days to get it to the destination.

Taxes and duties for Canadians are soo screwed up that it is actually cheaper for Canadians to buy hockey equipment made in Canada through a US distributor to ship to Canada...which is why every equipment manufacturer has a contract that no longer allows US retailers to ship out of the country.

Were you the guy who bought 2 or 3 ?
I purchased but just have to have faith ebay will set things straight If not legit.

Relisting of another 8 is a little Alarming

So far the seller responded to my shipping question with a first name, but that doesn't mean much.
What would happen? If seller goes awol you just file a claim.

It doesn't look to out of place from the items he is selling, free shipping, listing style etc.
Although I am picturing civics with neon lights have hijacked a semi truck now

I looked at the listing before reading comments, and this is exactly my thoughts as well. I was heavily involved in the Miller 211 ordeal (tried buying 4 of them), and this looks exactly like it.

I just sent the guy a message asking if I can pick-up on Monday in person. I predict no response at all.

This is the Miller 211 scam all over again.

I really want to buy it just to see what happens, but deep down, I know it has to be a scam (or fell off the back of the truck).

I considered buying it but messaging the guy that I'd have to wait a few days to pay due to unforseen circumstances with my credit card... lol.

One of you guys who "bought" one of these Wiltons should start a separate thread so all of GJ can follow along.

The Miller 211 thread was epic and this vise deal could be just as good.

Hell, we could take bets on how many sheets of paper are going to be in the fake package!

A response already!

Me: I'm from Rochester and will be in Mississauga on Monday on business. I would like to buy two vises - one for me and one for my friend. Can I pick them up in Toronto on Monday?

514davidson: The logistical is too complex since my warehouse is on appointment only and not accessible to customers, Shipping is free and no duties or taxes are charged

Unfortunately I was not aware of the welder scam because I was not paying attention at the time.

Now I am sure this is coming from the same guy/organization because of how these e-mails are written along with the locations. Do you guys know how to tip off ebay or PP along with reference to the miller scam.

Seller is on first relist so he hasn't sold over 16 yet.

I just bought one..... was very tempted to get 2 or 3 though. For the price its a steal but as mentioned, the scam warning bells are there. Worse comes to worse though, as I said, I did make sure to also fund the payment with a credit card. That gives you one more leg to stand on for getting out of it if it comes down to it plus not tying up actual cash while we wait and see.

I agree that them relisting another 8 is a bit alarming.

I can easily see getting a pallet of them dropped on you and wanting to get rid of them quick as I also go to a lot of live commercial auctions. There is one companies auctions I go to that they specialize in large commercial factories and businesses. There is very often tons of full pallets of tools, materials, equipment, or whatever that will be brand new and at an auction where there is literally many many hundreds of lots the auctioneer is not going to break them up and auction them off individually. Actually they will often bundle multiple pallets as one lot to bid on purposefully putting a pallet of some thing that they know is not going to sell or will sell for very little with a pallet of something else much more desirable just so they can get rid of it. So to get what you want you also end up stuck with a bunch of other ****. When you get a load of something you want to move quick, heck yeah sell them off dirt cheap. You get your investment in the entire lot back in a hurry and still are left with the stuff you really wanted to begin with.

On these vises though.... yeah its just hard to tell. I read and followed the miller welder thread for a bit. I'd love a killer deal on one too. That also made me a bit more cautious on buying. Then again I often make offers on eBay listing with "Best Offer" and often get surprised at how low they will sometimes accept. Literally half of their price and less. Of course some will not hardly budge and counteroffer a freaking dollar less than their asking price. On those I dont even bother to offer again.

All we can do is wait and see. I had been looking at getting another Wilton for quite a while and just been looking for the right one so eBays home page had started showing me a good many of them. This one just happened to pop up on there yesterday morning. Right timing as when I clicked it there were still 3 or 4 left. I looked and compared prices for sold listings for that model for about 3 minutes, read the listing, looked at their rather low feedback (but a couple of fairly valuable tool type items are recent), and hit the buy it now button quickly. I'll post if I hear anything at all, shipping notice or whatever.

FWIW - I just did a couple of image searches including reverse image searches and did not find that exact picture. Also checked completed listings on eBay and did not find that picture previously used there either. I did see that another seller, also in Ontario and a respectable seller has also recently sold several "new old stock" vises of the same model in boxes with the same graphics. Does not really mean much though....

I don't keep track of all the items I post here - my "watch list" would be 30 pages long and too confusing.

But since you asked:

This one sold for $19.25 + shipping about an hour or so ago:

Thorsen (US) 12-pc 3/8" dr. SAE 12-pt sockets 3/8" - 3/4", with breaker, speeder, extension, universal joint, 13/16" plug socket and box (no ratchet)
amazingly good condition for its age
started at $10 + $6 shipping.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/371507366259?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

============================================

This one sold for $53.00 + shipping a couple hours ago:

Craftsman 1/4" drive socket set in original box w/all the pieces: open-gear ratchet, breaker bar, t-handle, extension, universal joint, and cherry box.

seller: Sockets are 7/32, 1/4, 9/32, 1/4 (8 point), 5/16, 11/32, 5/16 (8 point), 3/8. Production code H. (New Britain Tool Co. 1931-1947)

me: so... the little " H " is inside a circle, yes??

seller: Yes, and there is a 7/16 six point I forgot to list it.

started at $20 + $8 shipping
http://www.ebay.com/itm/351603177057?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I expected it to go for more than that. I'm actually kind of surprised, considering what some other " V " and " -V- " and " =V= " socket sets have gone for recently.

appears to be in excellent condition.
$23 right now + $6 shipping. 0 bids now. auction ends Monday 12/21
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181962064889?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

* UPDATE 12/20/15 12:58 PST - per message from seller, this set DOES contain the 7/16" socket as well.
