I just wrote to Klein. We'll see what they have to say.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hello. I ordered a Klein 1/2"-drive ratchet off eBay, part number 65820.
I was expecting a round-head, knurled-handle ratchet, same as my 1/4"-drive and 3/8"-drive Klein ratchets, part number 65620 and 65720.
I was a little disappointed when I received a pear-head, smooth-handle ratchet, part number 65820 (the same part number as the round-head, knurled-handle ratchet).
The ratchet is made in Taiwan. After doing some research online, I found out that it is made by Stanley, same as the Stanley ratchet model number 89-819, which can be found on the first page of the Stanley catalog http://www.protoindustrial.com/en/s...ley Sockets and Drive Tools (p.1051-1071).pdf
Is it common for Klein to use the same part number for 2 different ratchets? (pear-head and round-head). I do not see the pear-head ratchet on the Klein website, nor do I see it anywhere else online. Everything for the part number 65820 pulls up the round-head ratchet, which I assume is made in USA by Stanley Proto.
Under warranty situations, would this Taiwan-made pear-head ratchet get replaced with a USA made round-head ratchet, since they use the same part numbers?
I have attached 2 photos for reference.
