2. Too many of them are listed with low opening bids (i.e., "99 cents") and get bid way up.

I don't look at Gearwrench, Pittsburgh, or Kobalt because those are brands sold through mass-merchandisers who regularly run "blow-out specials" on them, which are usually found in one of the other "Hot Deal" threads.

Best for me (and those reading this thread) for me to go with what I know.

Are you saying I should avoid posting truck brand deals in this thread if I see them? I was just trying to share what I saw as a good deal, but I can refrain if it's not ok.

It seems like most of the popular sets are easy to assess value to based on completed listings. Individual tools are harder to determine, because it really depends on someone trying to fill out a set.

In general, I've seen that new SO items can be had for $.50-.60 on the dollar on eBay if you're patient. Some newly released sets are higher than that. Used SO it all depends on the age and condition...older stuff is cheaper but more recently released used sets still sell for $.40 or so on the dollar in most cases.

I saw the SOEXL wrenches as significantly below that amount, so I thought they were a deal! Not for everyone though.

Maybe not fraud, but rather counterfeits? The seller also has Mitutoyo calipers for very cheap, but those are well known to be counterfeited items (and you can search many completed listings on eBay showing successful sales for similar prices).

I wouldn't be surprised if you ordered these items that you would actually receive a shipment. Maybe just not the real deal though.
