This kit # doesn't show up on the Milwaukee website though. Just realized what it is:

2763-21 has 1x XC5.0 battery. 2763-22 (the kit listed on Milwaukee's site and elsewhere) has 2 batteries.

i have bought several batteries recently.

i bought two 2AH M18's for 60$ shipped from:

i like to have some smaller batteries for quick jobs (less weight) and some larger batteries for bigger/longer jobs (more weight, less hassle changing batteries.)

all but one have had 2016 dates stamped into them. the other was a dec 2015 date.

it appears that they turn over pretty quickly. from the look of the home depot shelves, i would assume i would not get any newer batteries from them.

I just bought from 2 sellers in recent weeks. One was a lot of four M18 5ah for $210 (made an offer outside of ebay that save me & made him more). And another 5ah was from someone for $50 shipped. All dated fine. Biggest thing to look out for is they are genuine Milwaukee.

Is there an easy/obvious way to tell? With the quality of some counterfeits these days it can be hard to tell.

I would assume that a seller with pretty much perfect ratings and pretty much perfect ratings on the batteries with hundreds sold would likely be selling authentic ones? Possibly not though, I suppose.

you can tell from the pictures usually. At least the obvious ones, with the bad font, and sometimes just say 18v. I've never run into one that someone swapped batteries in a legitimate case, and I imagine with the cost dropping as low as is on these, it's harder for someone to come out ahead with the work involved

I've played the Sears/points game for years and am up to my eyeballs in different picks/drivers. I wish it was easy to find a decent assortment pack of sheet metal screws or some other fastener to extend/refill my fastener inventory.

Yes, I did notice it, but it was pretty late so all I posted was that Wright-made "Powr Kraft" set above. The other sets he listed are posted below. Kind of an odd mix of stuff - the best of it being the Indestro-made "Wizard" set.
No idea who made the "Companion" stuff - the ratchet is NOT the same as a 77J Thorsen.

EOC_Jason: The "standard" for a basic 3/8" drive SAE set was only 3/8" - 3/4" sockets. Almost every manufacturer made a "basic" set like that. The Craftsman set does seem to go a bit overboard with the drive accessories, though - another half a dozen sockets would have made it a pretty "complete" set, but there's no place to put them in that blow-mold case.
