Ebay Seller Sent Wrong items...SMH

So, I bought some USA Cman 3/8 36t rebuild kits from a seller on ebay. The guy had just started selling and after a few messages back and forth, I bought all five kits that he had. Received them yesterday, all China made. So far, I have tried to contact seller and haven't heard back. Tried filing that I didn't receive the correct item through ebay, which so far has been a joke.

Anyone have luck getting their money back on situations like this? This isn't the first time something like this has happened, but I've always been able to contact the seller without any problems.

item not as described works. just takes 4 days....u have to wait for the seller to either reply or for it to time out then you can escalate it to ebay

Yes. Where have you been the past 75 years?

You received the items from e-bay and because the seller didn't get back to you in less than 24 hrs, you already file a dispute? Try having a bit of patience. Sellers all don't live on a computer 24-7.

Also, did the seller specifically say they were US made? Or are you assuming because of a picture? If the later, shame on you for assuming......

I have plenty of patience. The seller was quick to reply before the sale...yes they were advertised as USA made kits. I was under the assumption that if you take in a broken ratchet to sears these days, you get a Chinese ratchet as an exchange...

Most employees don't want to bother rebuilding the ratchets in the back, so they're happy to hand out the kit that you need (and a better chance of getting old stock USA kits). They have boxes FULL of them in the returned merchandise area. I worked receiving in the back of a Sears for a little while, they were shocked that I actually wanted to rebuild the buckets of ratchets.

As stated before, if the seller didn't list on the auction or in a message to you that they are US made, not really anything you can do.

how much did each kit cost you? if it is little money, move on, and remember the seller and never buy again. not worth the frustration sometimes if time is delicate. for 10 or less bucks, id probably learn my lesson and never buy from him again, maybe let him know his mistake, and move on.

It's not a lot of money, but then again, the guy shouldn't post in his ad "stay American, buy American!!!" and send Chinese ****, lol. I'm gonna wait a few more days and see if he ever replies.

If the picture showed USA, it's still a SNAD. Buyer doesn't have to assume anything.

Yeah considering the title says made in USA I think you have a pretty good case. Just be patient and you will get your money back either through the seller directly or ebay will help you.

I think technically they have to charge you like .1 cent each for the rebuild kits at Sears. Most of the time they wont know what you are talking about but they will look it up and you can buy as many as you want then for .1 cent each.

If no one ever bought from a newbie there wouldn't be any sellers on Ebay. Everyone has to start someplace.

There's so much buyer protection on Ebay I wouldn't fret about it.

I'd rather buy from a newbie then a <99% FB oldie seller.

Exactly.

I have bought from several 0% sellers. Some of the best communication and fastest shipping has come from them since they are trying to make a good impression. Yes, there are bad eggs and new sellers can make mistakes, but so can the veterans.

if seller dont reply/dispute. usually ebay will FULLY refund price and shipping and you probably get to keep the stuff too. that has happened a couple times for me.
make sure whatever happens that when the dust settles, you are not out any money for the sellers misrepresentation of this auction.

Yes, I received 32764 instead of 43434. I realized the part# that was listed was a 60 tooth low profile ratchet, I even asked the seller about that before purchase, he had given me the ratchet part#'s that the kit was for via messaging back and forth.

So I messaged the guy again today and told him if he didn't want to settle this with me, I would be opening up a dispute. Guess what? He messaged me right back!

He is telling me that the kits are USA with China instructions in them...lol Other than trying to install the kit in my USA rat, is there any way to verify the parts are USA or China?

The China ratchets (and kits) have the quick release that pushes a tab out at the end of the square drive. The USA ones do not have that.

I was under the understanding that the kits made for chinese ratchets wouldn't work in the USA made ratchets. Even if the model numbers were the same. I haven't tried swapping the parts, so IDK. :dunno:

Not from my experience. I have a 3/4" repair kit that I haven't used yet that says Made in USA & it has the quick release button. I got it about a year ago, just haven't installed it yet. Still wrapped in the plastic bag. Catalogue #43449.

Just got home from work and checked out the kits, all five of them have the hollow drive end with the pin that protrudes when depressed. The seller had claimed that the kits were USA kits with Instruction paperwork from the Chinese kits...

when I used a craftsman ratchet to remove docks from the lake it was under the water alot. held up well but there were times it would jump gears and bust.

the kid at the sears desk opened the ratchet up and said there is anti seeze inside. I said yah I know. he says the corrosion properties of the aluminum interfere with the function of the ratchet. I let him finish and I left.
