Ebay snap on ratchet purchase

Just recieved my flex head 3/8" snap on ratchet purchased on ebay last week listed as a fx80. Opened the box and it was a f841. This is only a 30 tooth ratchet and not even as smooth as my old craftsmans. The locking flex works good but the head has a good bit of side to side slop in it. Has anyone else had problems like this and should I return it? I took my time bidding to wait on what was supposed to be a fine tooth ratchet. Just feel like I paid for more than what I got. How much cheaper should a used f841 go for versus a fx80?

Report in buyer feedback or talk with the seller about the problem. The only way to fix the problem.

Ask him to ship you the right one or return your money. He probably just mixed them up

Talk to the seller first, and if he isn't cooperative, you can file a claim on ebay. "Item received not what was represented".

I have been looking for a 1/2in ratchet on ebay lately. And I was looking at a lot of Snap Ons. But a lot of sellers list every ratchet as dual 80 technology. And then they would list the part number and it wouldnt be a ratchet that had dual 80 tech.

Its very common to see Dual 80 Ratchets MisRepresented at Ebay. The problem lies when you put the Old part number into the Snap on Website it brings up the Newest Model number (Dual 80 tech) Ask the Seller to make it right or just dispute via Paypal using "Item not as Described".

That happened with the first SnapOn ratchet I ever bought. Guy put the old model in and got the new model info. I didn't really know enough to catch it. I contacted the guy and we renegotiated the price. It was NOS, so I was fine with it and it was a nice tool.

Give the guy a chance to make it right.

I agree, contact the seller and let him know. If he sent the wrong ratchet by mistake then he may not realize it yet.
If he listed wrong model number/ didn't mention the sloppy joint etc. then negotiate a reduction in price by refund.

If he is a serious seller he'll make it right.

At the very worst you have a ratchet that the manufacturer will swap out for new one and probably give you the latest model because of the joint wear.

I am curious who the seller is. I've been debating emailing and asking for a tracking number from him. I buy quite a bit of stuff from eBay and have never had a bad experience .... yet. On the upside, I just received my Snap on cord reel and trouble light, also an eBay purchase. Very happy with it. I plan on hanging it from the ceiling and plugging it into the receptacle for my garage door opener. I recommend checking them out on eBay if you're in the market. Seem like a really good price, especially if you live stateside where the shipping doesn't kill you like it does up here.

Please talk with the seller before filing any dispute with paypal, ebay or leaving negative feedback.

I got my one and only negative feedback when an item I shipped arrived broken. The stupid buyer left negative feedback and never bothered to contact me. I would have gladly issued a full refund....

Give the seller a chance to make it right.

I have seen quite a few of these on ebay. I hope you didn't pay more than $38 bucks for this as it's the same unit that Costco sells. They actually had them on sale for $28 during Xmas.

I've bought and sold hundreds of things on ebay so the best advice would be try to contact the seller and see if he'll issue a refund and also play the feedback card. Tell him you'll leave neg feedback if he doesn't give your money back.

Alot of sellers will just ignore your complaint. Also Contacting ebay with item is not as described nonsense gets you nowhere they don't care all they want is there ridiculous fee's.

Also here's a tip Fileing a claim with paypal only will work if the seller can't prove he shipped the item they also don't care if the item is different than described. The only way to get paypal to give your money back is to file a claim telling them you never received your item, If seller has no tracking number paypal will allmost allways issue a refund.

So try to cantact the seller first and if all else fails resell it on ebay with the correct description, take your loss and leave neg feedback if seller is not helpfull.

The internut is a scary thing.....make your problems known and the dealer can be destroyed by popular comment........tell the dealer that you are keen to let others know about your problem and see what happens

This^^^^^. Your absolute worst case is spending $5 to mail it to Kenosha and SO will send you a new FX80. If you call or email them up they might just send you a new ratchet.

It's worth trying for a partial refund but returning it for a full refund likely isn't in your best interest. You likely got the F841 for less than a real FX80 would bring on feebay. A lot of potential buyers would've known it wasn't a Dual 80 from the picture.

This just happened to me this week actually.

I bought a sl710 off ebay and got the package and it was a pretty nice s710.

I thought about asking for the right piece, but it's not worth the hassle for me. The ratchet I got is pretty nice.

I dunno if I would advocate fraud.
Besides, I've had five items over the years with e-bay 'not as described' Got two negotiated lower prices, and three outright full refunds and told to keep the items.
Never lost a claim with PayPal, but some take forever to settle.

Sorry for not posting an update. Contacted the seller and the lady had came up with the incorrect listing by comparing the item to pictures of other ratchets. I understand that type of thing happens sometimes and I'm no expert on snap on ratchets myself. She did mention giving me a refund or negotiating a discount based on a more accurate price for the ratchet I recieved. I have posted in the general tool section to see if there is any chance or returning it to snap on for a fx80 like mentioned above. Hopefully someone can let me know if that is a possibility before I decide to pay to have it shipped back.
