New member here--sorry if this is a repost or has been discussed earlier. I'm beginning to outfit our garage starting with upgrading the plastic HD/Lowes plastic shelves and cabinets we've had for a few years.

I found these on eBay.

Everything looks great in eBay pics, but I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with these. They would be used mainly for storage of car maintenance and cleaning supplies, some garden stuff and kids' outdoor toys, etc....

Thanks in advance!

You have to love a good bad *** name like "Ultra Heavy Duty" without disclosure of important things like gauge or even weight...

Thanks for the tips, this forum is awesome! The reviews at the Sams Club website are pretty positive, the ones at Amazon are less so. The name is pretty funny now that I think about it... super duper ultra mega heavy duty.

I'll have to check them out in person.

I know they had other style cabinets by that maker at Sam's a while back, so it's a fair bet they may have that one.

I can confirm that my Sams club does carry that exact one. Greensburg, pa. I played around with it. Seemed solid ( they had it cabled to a higher rack that was about shoulder high so I couldn't really romp on it ) the price was 199.98. I would have pulled the trigger but I realized I have no room for it haha.

I have a shorter version of that cabinet. It's built well. I don't think you can buy a better cabinet for that relatively low price. I bought mine from Sams.

Went by Sam's today. They had the cabinets mounted high, basically above chest level for me, so I couldn't examine them as closely as I'd like. Seem decent for the price. I'm trying to keep to a budget, so the less I spend on quality cabinets, the more I can spend on other stuff like flooring, etc....

The doors are somewhat flimsy and definitely pick up fingerprints like crazy. The tall cabinet door had a dent on it just from being a display unit, so that's not the most confidence inspiring finding.

That said, I think these are pretty much what I'm looking for and definitely in my price range, thanks for the help and opinions.

I bought the rolling cabinet and bench for my lab at work, (it's in an office for PC/digital signage work)
You get what you pay for, and for the price they will get the job done. They are good enough that my boss went to Sam's and bought the whole set for his shop. I went the 44" from HF he went with the Seville from Sam's.

I grabbed the deal for the Gladiator wall cabinets mentioned on this post. So now I'm leaning towards staying with Gladiator for other upgrades.

The flimsiness of the doors and the propensity for fingerprints bugs me a little--I'd like to think I'd be out in my garage wiping them down on a regular basis, but I know I wouldn't. Also, my 2 and 4 year olds would definitely insure that those doors wouldn't be dent free for very long. I think the workbench from Seville classics looks pretty good, though. I'd need to figure out a way to get it home from our local Sam's bc shipping to my home is over $100, which sort of kills the deal.

I have five of the tall storage cabinets from Sam's. Much cheaper than the ebay seller.

I started with one, but kept buying more. Lots of room. They are not bullet proof. They are a good value for the money. If you are going to store very heavy items, I would recommend 1/2 plywood to line the shelves. Although I have one shelf with no liners that stores 3 sets of sbc heads.

One of mine has three engine blocks (two sbc blocks and one bmw big six block) stored on the bottom on top of a 1/2 piece of plywood cut to fit. Yes, the doors are a bit flimsey. I had to put some cardboard under one wheel where the floor isn't perfectly flat to keep the doors from binding. However on a perfectly flat surface, they are fine.

I also bought 10 of the Gladiator wall cabinets. 99 bucks is too cheap to pass up.

I too was set on the Seville stuff untIl I got a deal on the Gladiator wall cabinets. I`m not a fan of the faux daimond plate, but I think they are better in every way and glad thats what I ended up with.

Does each Sam's carry all the stuff they show online, or is each store a little different in what they stock?

I think each store's stock varies. You can check online to see what's available for local pickup to save on shipping. As far as what they display, I'd guess that's definitely variable depending on how much room they have, etc...

Sorry to bump this, but I was wondering how y'all were liking the Gladiator cabinets? I bought the Seville tall cabinet and smaller rolling cabinet on craigslist and was not very impressed. I'm not sure if it was my floor or if they put them together poorly, but they seem VERY flimsy. I currently use the Seville workbench and have been happy with it, but have not been able to decide which cabinet to put above the workbench. Based on my craigslist experience, I have been apprehensive about buying the Seville cabinets. The Gladiator cabinets will be on sale on Black Friday, so I figured I better make some decisions. Thoughts?

No problem with Gladiator cabinets, especially the welded ones. I have had some of my cabs for 3 years...they look new still. Although some dont like the tread design, they do not smudge with fingerprints (Seville does?). Seville looks cool and gets good reviews, but you have to like that shiny look.

I may be in the minority, but I like my gladiator stuff. I bought the welded steel 30 inch cabinets from Gladiator when they had a clearance this summer and I've picked up 5 RTA cabinets, two workbenches, two welded floor chests and two tool chests from HD and Sears Outlets as they've gone on sale and clearance over the last few months. I also got a wall gear kit from Woot a couple of months ago.

I'm sure I could have saved money with a different brand and probably gotten higher quality by going with older repurposed office or lab equipment, but I don't have the time or ability to refinish old stuff right now.

The RTA stuff went together easily and the hanging cabinets were pretty easy to get on the wall. If you use the gear track stuff, it's basically a one person job to mount the cabinets.
