Does anyone know anything about the Echo Bearcat SG340 stump grinder? I'm thinking of buying one.. I have about 100 stumps I need to get rid of. Is this a good machine?

You might want to just get a few bids on having a stump grinding contractor take care of them. Those little handlebar stump grinders will do the job, but unless the stumps are very small they will take forever and wear you out in the process. If you would just prefer to spend the money on buying a stump grinder, at least do yourself a favor and keep an eye out for a good deal on a Vermeer SC252 or Carlton SP4012. They're self propelled and small enough to fit just about anywhere but big enough to chew up all but the biggest stumps. These are the 2 best small self-propelled stump grinders in the industry and they're simple, easy to work on, and parts are readily available (though not necessarily cheap). Also, if you buy it right you should have no problem getting your money back out of either of these (and maybe a profit) after the job is done, if you want to sell.

you can rent a self propelled unit with hydraulics or a tow behind for probably cheaper than buying one, I have a vermeer tow behind and get 3$ and inch at widest part and add 6" to each side for any stump over 15". this can add up when using a contractor. Once you do a couple you get the hang of it and can really make them go away with good teeth and technique.
