So I am at totally wits end. I have an Echo PAS 225 trimmer. Went to start after sitting for winter would not start. Dumped gas figering bad. Added new gas with new 2 stork oil added. Still will not start. Removed carb cleaned with carb cleaner still not starting. Was getting fuel and spark. So I said what the hell just put a new carb on. Installed new carb, fuel lines, plug, air cleaner and still not starting. Pulled spark arrester off cleaned and the screen is cleared and clean. Still not starting. Ok now new coil, WTF still not starting. getting fuel and spark. reversed fuel lines just to be sure I did not F up still no go. Read should check compression, truly not sure how to do this. I do not have a tester. On the edge, ready to just buy something new or should I take in for service? Any other ideas? SMH little help!

You've thrown a lot of parts at it.
I would squirt some gas in the carb and see if it fires . if it does , you have ruled with almost certainty it is fuel related.
Forgot that I did try squirting gas and also some starter fluid in the carb and no go!

That sounds like the same problem I had with my SRM225. A new ON/OFF switch fixed it.

[IIRC,] You can test the switch with a meter without removing it from the handle. It's kinda a pita to replace it. The switch circuit should be open to run. Closing the switch circuit grounds out the coil, or something, and shuts off the motor. [/IIRC]

Have you checked the flywheel key? If it’s been sheared the timing could be way off. If the timing was significantly off it won’t fire even with good spark. It’s not uncommon on echo trimmers and blowers.

And I would recommend oil made for it instead of oil extracted from storks.

Usually a clogged jet in the carb from parking it wet.

Always run the carb dry to a stall before parking anything two stroke.

My neighbor has six machines of four brands, all the same fail. He parks them wet.
