So after years of dreaming, I finally pulled the trigger a few weeks ago and we broke ground last week. I originally wanted 30x40, but we ended up going with a 32x32. Here's the original exterior design:

We've since decided to only put brick on the front. The patio on the side was inspired by 93L#3008's garage build. Thanks for that idea!

As you can see, the land needed some levelling

In floor radiant tubing in place. The right bay has an area where the concrete will be thicker for a (possible) lift.

The walls are starting to go up today, so I'll have more pics soon.

Trusses were delivered on Friday. I'm going with half attic trusses and half scissor trusses. Also the bare walls were stood up on Friday.

The little one is really loving the space.

LOL.. honest the winters we have here in Ottawa sometimes makes me think it would be exactly like Hoth. That said, I am hoping I get it insulated before the snow falls.

Thanks Denwood. Love your build!

Not much to report so far this week. The walls have been levelled and squared and the posts to hold the patio canopy have been installed and levelled. The trusses will start going up today. More pics to come tonight.

I left for Vegas last Thursday night and hadn't seen progress until tonight. When I left, the patio trusses were up.

All the of the trusses are now up and a good chunk of the wall sheathing is done.

You couldn't ask for anything better -- cooling off in the pool during the summer and staying warm on a radiant heat floor in the garage during the winter. Looking really nice.

That's awesome where I live in michigan I can do a floating slab only if it's 450 sqft or smaller. My footings and flat work and approach is flirting with 10k and that's with me doing most of site prep. That is gonna be a sweet building man congrats can't wait to break ground on ours. We're starting in the spring property is paid for for the new house and barn getting excited.

So does the x wing get parked under the patio?
And the falcon inside where it's warm to work on?

Got the speeders ready for the cold?

Making great progress

Finally get back to updating this thread. I was away in Vegas last week and have been playing catch up since then. I'll let the photos do the talking.

I'll take a better day picture of the roof today. Today the sheathing, wrapping and doors/windows should be all done.

We ran into a bit of an issue with the garage door that took several weeks to resolve. The garage is split between attic and scissor trusses. The doors were ordered with extended tracks for 10' walls and tracks that follow the inside pitch of the scissor trusses. For some reason, the manufacture didn't send the extended track for the scissor side, but the attic side was perfect. The manufacture wanted to put the blame on the store, when it was pretty clear they sent the wrong tracks.

In end, the store ended up footing the bill for the proper tracks. They were really nice about it.

That's turning out right nice. I bet it'll look like a million bucks once the brick work is complete. Congrats and good luck

Started the electrical work. Lucky for me, my dad and brother are electricians. Scored a couple of commercial 2x4 LED fixtures. They light up the right bay pretty well, but I may space them out a little more. I'll be putting some pot lights under the attic trusses.

We also started the siding, facias and soffit.
