ECi power supply question

Dragged home and never tried. The DC side reads very close to my meter. Maybe .1 volt difference.

However the A/C side looks like it should be 6.3v (at least that's what the label says) but either side I get 7.5 or 7.6v

Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with it? Both of the A/C output read the same. I pressed both resets

I switched my meter to the 20v range and now it reads 7.68v

Black probe on one and red on the other? Do I need to change something on the meter?

Possibly it was built to step down 110V or 115V, and it is running a bit "hot" because of 120v now?

I would also see what Yellow/Yellow reads. Black probe on one side, Red on the other. Leave it on the 20VAC setting.

The outlet itself is 122.8 (20" below the subpanel in the basement). I had to take off the dinette chair.

Yellow to yellow 15.45

I've never used a power supply for anything other than DC for which this unit seems fine, but not knowing why the AC side isn't right will bother me.

Plus I didn't know you could go yellow to yellow. Learn something new.

You will be fine .

I would not think about it too much. It’s a transformer output and unregulated output. Your dc is regulated output. So….

Am I looking at something wrong ? The meter on the supply looks like it is reading very close to what your meter is reading ?? Have you tried turning the Voltage Adjust knob ? Or is it only for the DC section ?

Also, is your meter a true RMS meter ? Might be the difference.

Either way it is well within acceptable limits.

The multi-meter in the OP is showing 7.6V AC. The needle is showing 20V DC or .8A DC. Zooming in, it says the VAC should be stationary only.

The meter switch is in the "Volts" position and the lower scale shows just about 8 Volts ? Not sure :) Really need to look at the manual to be sure :)
Where do you see the "stationary only" ????

That switch is for telling it which part to rely on for limiting (Volts or Amps) for DC. Zoom in on the picture, and you can see it reads DC Volts (kind of blurry), and DC amps (below the scale you are seeing).

Second pic in the OP shows that it should only be showing 6.3VAC, regardless of needle.

To me, the low voltage AC, 12,6 or 2x6,3 V output, would be a godsend for people who work on and/or repair
amplifiers or the like with vacuum tubes.
The filament voltage in this stuff after 1945 6,3 or 12,6 V.
And the note in post above to load the AC voltage is correct, that will reduce the AC voltage some.
