Yesterday I brought home a used Econoline Model RA-42-24 sandblast cabinet with the Econoline 100 CFM dust collector. I've never used a blast cabinet before, but have some parts for my '48 5-window Chevy truck that need to be cleaned of paint and rust. I have the Econoline manual and have read about blast media, but I'm still not sure what media to use with my "new" blast cabinet.
What would be a good media to learn with? I have some old parts storage bins that are a lighter gauge steel than the truck that I was going to clean up and paint, then use to store nuts and bolts. They are pretty rusty, and built with a much thinner metal than the truck body parts. Would I use the same blast media for both?
I've read about Garnet blast media, Black Beauty extra fine blasting media, TSC's black diamond fine blasting media, but I'm not sure.
So what would you recommend using?
