Ecosmart led's from HD

I was at HD last night looking at the LED bulbs and found some of the LED's that look like regular bulbs (I guess you'd call them the sealed kind) with a rated output of 450 for just under 10 bucks. For the last few weeks ive noticed the output from the CFL's on the outside of the garage getting dimmer than I would have liked, I know that they dont do well in the cold but these were damn near dark. So i sprung for 3 and one of the finned 850 output ones for the light up high above the door. Gotta make sure I save the receipt now that I read that some on here have had problems with them in the past.

In stalled the two next to the garage door last night and am happy with the output, at least as bright or brighter than the CFL's on a good day. I didn't notice until I got them home that the package says not to use them in a sealed receptacle so that puts the mason jar style porch light back to a cfl and the sealed LED in the bathroom. Put the 850 in its new home today, kinda looking forward to the sun going down to see how it lights up the back.

Taking down the old CFL's I noticed that two of the glass tubes were loose and the bases were discolored horribly after about 7 months of use.

I haven't used their LED lights, but the Ecosmart CFL globe bulbs I bought for our bathroom are complete junk. I have a lot of CFL bulbs and these are pretty much the worst I've used. They're purple and very dim for several minutes when you turn them on.

I haven't used the discrete buibs, but the HD EcoSmart LED recessed retrofits are rebranded CREE's and some of the best on the market, and at an amazing price point.

I have 18 6" units and 24 4" units and they have all been flawless. Best color temperature and dimmability, and they install nicely into the fixtures.

Generally the colder it is the longer the life you will get from LEDs

our temps swing from 10 to 0 and sometimes colder for the coldest low to 100 plus in the summer for the high so these bulbs will see it all.

Just bought 14 LED bulbs at a resale store for $4.50 each. Feit Electric. Some that replace bulbs in table lamps at 60 watt equiv. (13.5 watts 850 lumens)and some 100 watt equiv. (23 watts 1065 lumens) floods that go in porcelain or plastic bases. Gave 2 to a neighbor for his basement. Two in my garage. 4 in table lamps. They all light well as replacements for CFL's. Going to use some more floods in the garage and maybe as outside floods. At that price I will look for more. Gonna look for the candelabra base ones for my dining chandelier so they will be dimmable.

Looking at some of my old posts I thought I'd up date this one. These lights have run practically non stop 24 hours a day for the past 25 months, about 18000 trouble free hours. They have seen temps as low as -5 and as high as 110 and still perform as they did when I first bought them.

Usually stuff that begins with "Eco" isn't or is the bottom of the line.
