****...actually had to do some digging for that one-seriously...lol....http://www.wihatools.com/300seri/307serie.htm

EDIT: and these sparkys are saying sometimes the square is 45* on tilt, so it doesn't always work. But I used the Milwaukee ECX to wire up my shop, and I musta' got lucky...

Those are not the same. ECX has a square in the middle. The Wiha has a Phillips in the middle.

The Whia fits most all electric fasteners. But on the ECX styled fasteners like the buss bar of my SquareD Panel, the Milwaukee ECX was far superior. Davo3 is right in his explanation.

For me, when doing my wiring, i found that working in the panel was best with the Milwaukee, and the recepticles, switches, and such were Whia style...the Milwaukee didnt even work on em.

I can understand the combination spotted/Phillips, since neither drive fits very well, but I don't understand the point of a combination slotted/Robertson. I've never had any problem with Robertson screws not fitting well or camming out.

The Phillips/Slotted works great on those fasteners, better than either one alone.

I will hazard a guess that the Robertson/Slotted is made so that one can use a Slotted if one does not have the appropriate Robertson (or ECX) handy.

I believe the ECX is a combo Robertson/Slotted, whereas the Switchgear tip is a combo Phillips/Slotted or Pozidrive/Slotted.

Actually, the ECX is a combination Robertson/Philips/Slotted. I believe it is just made for convenience to use whatever screwdriver you happen to have. It ***** with Philips though, and cams out really easily. It's better with square drive bits (not a true Robertson), but still can cam out.
With so little meat left in the screw head, even the slotted part can cam out easily.

The ECX bit lets you get real torque on it when not much else can. The ECX screw itself was a solution in search of a problem, but at least these bits make using them a little easier.

Sadly, the precisiontools site has disappeared. Thankfully, the internet archive has a copy of the text (but not the images).

I have the Klein screwdrivers and a couple different companies bits.

I do not actually use them at work. My toolbox is heavy enough.
