Hey guys what do you keep in your pocket or on your hip for a multitool? I carry a Leatherman Squirt and it serves me very well for little quick fixes. I figure if i need something bigger than that i head to the tool box and get the correct tool. Just curious what everyone else carries. Always looking to see if there is something better out there.

Leatherman Skeletool CX. I like it because it clips in my pocket like a pocket knife and I can open/close the knife one-handed. The interchangeable screwdriver bits are handy too.

Gerber 600? With the removable saw blade and adapter to use 1/4" driver bits. I quit carrying it a few years ago when I went into the trades since I always have my tools available at work and at home. Before that, I carried it for years at work and used it all the time. Great tool.

I have the wave, and recently upgraded to the surge.. IMO if leatherman would make the features on the surge available to the wave, THAT would be a perfect multi tool.

How do we get knipex to make something similar to the leatherman crunch but with a pliers wrench or cobra head?

I carry a leatherman wave. I am a firefighter by trade and use it pretty much everyday at work on calls or stuff around the station. Great tool that just won't quit.

Leatherman Wave. I busted the smallest flat driver blade on it years ago and have never warrantied it. My bad. Great tool though overall. I'm always afraid I'm going to lose it over the side of the boat - use it a TON on the water during fishing/boating season.

Probably should make a lanyard...

I've got a SOG S44 that I've had for about 15 to 20 years now.

At the time it had the best Phillips bit of any multi-tool I could find for under $60. Probably lots of good ones now.

PS--Don't buy from the link above. They sell at full list price. Amazon will knock off at least $20 from that.

Have a Gerber 600 and the original Leatherman PST. Had a Leatherman Wave I was very fond of. My son wanted it, offered the Gerber in trade, (he was deploying to Iraq, how could I say no?). The Gerber's a fine tool, but it has lineman's pliers. Both my Leatherman have needle nose, which I find handier. MHO you understand.

I agree the Leatherman is great as a multi-tool and Knipex are great for pliers (Cobras) and adjustable wrench (Pliers Wrench). So when I was at a job that required quick maintenance I carried a Leatherman Surge in its sheath with the bit kit and a bit extender in my pants pocket, plus 6" Knipex Cobras and 6" Knipex Pliers Wrench in my FR work shirt pockets. The Surge is the most capable multi-tool boasting 21 tools and consequently bulky as far as multi-tools go.

Now my literal Every Day Carry is the Leatherman Mini Tool. Snagged a good one off eBay (date codes are late 1997), and sharpened the knife blade. Otherwise it looked pretty un-used. Mini Tool pliers fold out to the same size as the original Leatherman PST but fits in a smaller space so I even carry it in my dress pants pocket without screaming "I'm a tool nut!" :ninja: On days when I need extra fire-power I switch back to the Surge.

I have a Leatherman Rev. It has most anything you need for quick fixes. I like the pocket clip.

I carry the Leatherman Charge. Have it for 10 years now. Just broke the knife tip the other day :(. Read some good things online about Leathermans warranty so I'm gonna try it out. Also was looking at a replacement and damn a new Charge is pricey. Don't remember them being that much when I bought mine. Leathermans are made in the USA so that's nice.

I loved my charge ALX. No idea where it is now. Lost it in my move. Still a lot of garage boxes to unpack so maybe I will still find it

The warranty is great. I had a blast with a broken screwdriver. Sent it in and because they don't make the blast any more they sent me a brand new rebar as a replacement. It took about 3 weeks from when I shipped it out til it came back

Thanks for the info on the warranty turnaround time. Was wondering on how long I'll be without it. Definitely will miss it, packaged it up yesterday at work then went to grab it and it wasn't there. Already missing it.

Several choices I use depending on how much weight I want to carry around besides my stomach:
Victorinox Champ
Leatherman Skeletool CX
Leatherman Surge
Leatherman Crunch

i can never fine one to buy. i like something about all of them lol

The wave and the surge are probably the best.. The surge is nicer but is a little heavier.. With a belt clip on each and carrying them inside my front pocket, I often can't tell I have anything with me at all.. The benefit of the surge is replaceable cutters (on the new model) scissors are larger and on the outside, and it has a replaceable tool that you can use to carry either a wood saw or file/sharpener.

I had to send my Surge in for warranty right after Thanksgiving. Fell out of my pants while taking a growler, and broke one of the tool latch locks off. Idk how a 18" drop did that, but it happened!
Warranty took around 3 weeks...got it back on 12.23, so nice Christmas surprise. With the holidays, and we had some rough weather delaying ups, I thought that was reasonable.
They sent me a brand new Surge, which I like, but kind of miss the small eyeglass screwdriver. Not a deal breaker, as I carry a Victorinox Champ or Explorer, that has a more useable screwdriver that size.
Looking at options for a Skinth sheath. The elastic / leather one from Leatherman works well, but the single snap lets the flap get off to the side, letting the tool fall out.

I carry an original PST. Size is just right, not fond of those massive Leathermans that seem to be available now.

Skinth L or XL shield is what you want for that. Has room for some other goodies. I have the M shield and should have got the L as it barely holds my rebar, space pen, and flashlight.
