Anyone here have a streamlight 66608 rflashlight?

I am tired of changing batteries in my 20 year old maglite, the streamlight looks to be a better pocket fit for me also.

I know there are better lights out there but the approx $35 fits my budget, it is tuff being retarded and disabled.

thx

I am a big fan of small single cell flashlights for EDC. While I do not own one, the 66608 specs look pretty good. The only thing is the comments in the reviews off it being hard to change brightness levels and it not remebering what brightness level you last used. Supposedly the coyote color starts in hi and the other color starts in low brightness mode. Low is 50 lumens, which for me I find plenty bright. I used to always carry a Fenix E05 which was 35 lumens and that was great.

I don't have that light in particular, but you can't beat streamlight for the cost and how indestructable they are. I've used a Streamlight Protac 2L every day in industrial for like 8ish years now, the only downside is mine isn't rechargeable.

Can't go wrong with streamlight. I used to carry the non rechargable version of that one and it was great.

A strion is now my go to for most things, but it's alot bigger.

I second the Streamlight. Check out the Pro-Tac 2L-X, with the Streamlight 18650 rechargeable lithium ion battery. This is what I carry everyday.

I have surefire, streamlight, Felix, and Olight. The one that gets carried every day, going on 2 years, is the Olight S1R Baton. I like the fact that surefire is american made, but they don’t have ny as small and bright as the Olight. Streamlight has amazing customer service.

Have you considered using decent replaceable AA or AAA cells in a conventional light?

I avoided these things for years, with memories of useless NiCad cells that wouldn’t hold a charge, but modern ones such as these Panasonic Eneloop are a total game changer.

I regularly use a mini Maglite AA with an old LED conversion and eneloops, cheap option and very effective!

I really like these. The brighter A1S was on sale for $22 yesterday. At $16 you can take a risk on this. While 550 lumens seems low compared to many that claim 1000, the difference, like sound, doubling light levels is not perceived as twice as bright. Also this one has a ticket beam so it shines just as far.

Removing the battery to charge is both a good and bad. It makes the exterior of the light more durable but also means if you have to open the light to recharge the battery and if you replace the battery you either need to get a charger or another battery with the charge plug. Still, for the price it's a great light and I've been very happy with mine.

Yes. Coyote. Its my EDC.
Love the USB and it has performed great. No problems.
Its got about 1.5 years on it.
It sees daily use in a professional environment.
Runtime is very good, given its size.
Sometimes the high setting is too bright for up close work.
The hat clip has come in handy numerous times. It doubles as my mask strap holder when not donning.

If your considering shirt pocket carry, the Stylus Pro might be a better fit.
Ive had mine for 4 years with no issues.

While pricey, these are professional tools, unlike many of the cheap imported exaggerated-lumen lights on the market.

The only lights I trust these days are HDS and an older Surefire with a Malkoff drop-in and McClicky switch upgrade.

Rechargeable lights are a game-changer.

Replaceable rechargeable cells are nice so you can just swap in a fresh one if yours runs down. But for a pocket LED light, you'll never run it down in a day.

I just ordered a streamlight polytac With their rechargeable 18650 battery. I'm curious to see how it compares to my old surefire g2l that was running on a 18650/600 lumen lumensfactory lamp, which I unfortunately lost last week on the atv :(

I can do a review of sorts of anyone is interested if it ever shows up :dunno: Theirs alot of options out their today for turn key rechargeable lights not like ten years ago when you had to build what you were after!

I have two polytac's and they're great, lightweight lights. My only complaint is the clips seem to be less durable than others, like the one on my TL-2 X.

Currently looking for a Macrostream because recharging without removing the battery is something I got used to with bigger lights and miss it. Those CR123A batteries aren't cheap!

I might have to pick one of those up, CR123s for my 2L are pricey. Did it come with the battery and charger or is that separate? Their website is kinda vague.

Really enjoying this thread gang.

I frequently walk mY dogs at night, and we don’t have great streetlights. I have an OxyLED MD50 and a Gear!ight pair, but neither is really small enough for EDC, the zoom heads are too big. Looking for something with the slim profile of the MagLite 2xAA, which pretty much disappears in the pocket. That one above which is only slightly bigger than the 18650 battery is looking good.

Thanks to all who have contributed so far.

I have a Microstream USB and like it very much. Mine has two brightness levels controlled with the tailswitch. My one and only gripe is that I understand the battery is a Streamlight proprietary size though, so forget about replacing it with a standard unit.

The A3 has been $10 for a while, it has a adjustable head and doesn't have a tail switch though. I don't know If I would want to carry the A3 since the adjustable head does make it bulkier and not having momentary on is a bit of a bother. For use I like the adjustable head though since you can get a wide, equally lit view. I have an A1 when it was still atactical and it has held up, but bought an a3 a few months ago, and another today since they are so cheap.
