What tools do you use/have you used during your time away from the home/shop where your tools are?

I like to carry tools with me, but carrying too many isn't realistic. I made a tool box for my sedan, as I work in an office now, and more often than not it's not in the trunk because I need the room for something else. I recently blew a turn light bulb, bought a new one over lunch, but didn't have a 10mm socket to take the tail light out to access the socket. I hated the feeling that I couldn't even change a bulb due to not having my tools in the car. Now I know I'm not going to do major engine repair on the side of the road, but I think that repairing a flat, a nice breaker bar and lug socket, tools to change a radiator hose, and other repairs that can be done roadside from issues that disable a vehicle, but are super simple and can be done roadside to prevent a towing bill.

So three questions:
1. What tools do you carry on your person (knife, flashlight, multi-tool, etc)
2. What tools do you use when you're out and about/at the office (maybe to help family and you just happen to have it, not tools taken specifically for a job)
3. What tools do you carry in your car? (I know I'm not going to tow a SO krl box full of tools behind the car, but I think I should have SOMETHING

I'll answer my own questions:

1. I carry a knife/razor knife and a flashlight pretty much all the time. If I carry a bag or backpack I add a multi-tool, and other small tools

2. If I'm at family's house and they need help, I typically work out of tools I carry in the car. I have a big box I've setup for my car, but I'm trying to clean it out, make it smaller. More often than not though, I'm not in that vehicle where the tools are, so I'm looking to make a backpack of some EDC tools for this purpose I put in what ever vehicle I use. Trying to understand what you guys think might should go in this bag.

3. In my truck I have a toolbox with basic hand tools and a socket set. In my wife's car I have a multi-tool, pretty much just so there is some sort of tools that don't take up some room. better than nothing. In my car I want to carry pliers, screwdrivers, small socket set of common fastener sizes, etc. This is a work in progress

in all my vehicles I carry tire patch kit, 12v tire inflater, jumper cables, several paper towels, duct tape, electrical tape, few zip ties, 1-2 hose clamps.

I always have a pocket knife and flashlight with me, both on my person and in my car.
Any tools I need at work are at my desk or in a toolbox in our department.
Admittedly I really don't carry any tools in my car. I do have jumper cables, tire changing tools, etc.

On my person I only generally carry a jack knife and a small penlight! I often have a multi bit driver and snipe nose pliers in my briefcase, but anything more gets ditched sooner or later!

I have a plastic box with a few drivers, some pliers, half a dozen wrenches and some basic sockets in the back of my car! Just stuff to change a wheel or water hose, or fit an alternator belt!

I used to carry a lot more, but my current car is newer and smaller than some I've owned and I just don't need the volume of stuff I used to carry!

My old 'car box' is now my travelling box, and probably the most useful I've made up! I struggled for years with basically one main set of tools, but I was forever lugging stuff around in cardboard boxes! I've upgraded this box with some extra wrenches and stuff like torx sockets, and find it really handy to just grab and go when I'm working away from home! It's amazing how much you can do with a few basics!

I carry on me: a few knives, including a SAK; an old school Leatherman; a Sharpie; a basic smartphone; a Bic; and a wallet with cash and cards.

I've got a powerful LED flashlight, more pens and paper, whatever miscellaneous tools I'm enamored with at the moment, quarters for bus fare and parking, and a bunch of spare utility blades in a bag I carry to and from work, along with work stuff, whatever small project I'm tinkering with, and whatever books I'm reading, snacks, lunch, etc.

In the truck- a ton of ****, including a breaker bar, a machete, three yardsticks, spare water, half a repair manual, parking change, and snacks, a four foot wrecking bar, multiple first aid kits, a hard hat, a towel, a jacket or two, spare gloves, several vises, and six hammers (problem? I don't have a problem! :bounce:).

I'm working on paring the truck toolkit down to a single roll for the basics, and a small hand box for most everything else. I've got a long way to go, though.

I carry this 14" husky tool bag in my vehicle at all times. :) I'm a firefighter, and I was sick of trying to fix something around the station with the junky tools they supply us. It also comes in handy while visiting the in-laws, and their honey-do list that comes up every time I'm over.

1) I don't carry any tools on my person regularly.
2) I try to keep a tape measure, flat screwdriver, and Phillips screwdriver stashed in my bedroom and every vehicle for minor things.
3) This lives in my truck. My truck isn't my daily driver, but if I'm getting into something that may require tools, I usually take the truck anyway.

I carry a kni...err, box opener... on me at all times.

I actually don't keep anything in my car. My AAA card can tow me home if I need to fix something :).

In my truck I used to carry a craftsman taiwan 3/8" ratchet and wrench set (SAE and Metric) (one of those sets that come in a plastic case), 1/4" ratchet and socket set (SAE and Metric), a couple pairs of pliers, a multitool, rope, tie downs, bailing wire, duct tape, etc etc.

Besides my car box (it's a craftsman truck box pretty small actually) I used to carry a knife and a flashlight. Now I don't. I got a case micro knife on my keychain that's about all I need (to open letters or packaging).

Well, in an earlier post I talked about my Husky tool bag that sits in my car. It served me well for several years, but it's time for a change. Veto Pro Pac MC…
