Been at this all day and making almost no progress, can't figure out what my issue is. Grinding disc appears to be in good shape, the little nubs protrude a good 1/4 inch. Using my shop vac with dust bags. Been working on this section for about 4 hours and this is all I've been able to get done.

I've tried going super slow, tried going faster, tried a sweeping motion back and forth, nothing is improving the rate at which this is getting done. The slab is basically brand new, never had a car parked on it.

The Edco grinder I got from HD had a LOT more depth to the blade than the one you showed. I worked well but was a lot of work. I ground 1300 sq ft in a day.

The Clarke sander has been working okay. My concern now though is making the texture of the Clarke to the areas I had already done with the Edco. Kinda looks like bondo on sheet metal . . .

what is your finish floor going to be epoxy, tile, etc? the texture"profile" difference may not matter if your going 100% broadcast flake or tiles or etc?

Probably easier to do a quick once-over with the Clarke on the areas you already hit with the Edco.... If you can't match, blend.

I'm going to try blending it, see how it comes out. I tried a bit last night but was so exhausted I didn't get far.

Zeke, in Scotty from Legacy's thread he said to do it dry.

You should be able to blend it.

We do it dry as we need to be off the job ASAP. You can do it wet as you have the luxury of time.

If you go wet, deal with the slurry prior to it drying out and leave a 3-4 days of drying prior to coating.

If you are grinding till all the floor shows some removal, then you will be there forever. The floor is not flat, your spending a lot of time trying to make it so.

$$$ and time to do that.

The main reason I'm being so meticulous with it is we were less than careful when painting since we thought the grinding process would go smoother. Pita getting all the paint off. Would I be better off getting what I can with the Clarke and go back with an angle grinder?

What it looks so far

All finished and cleaned up. I think what threw my off a bit was the potential of the Edco. Being able to take a 10" section and have it ground down completely lead me to believe that's how the whole thing should be done. I would have been much better off starting with the Clarke, as it's able to conform better to take the paint off the floor. Since the Edco was a completely rigid unit, I had to knock the whole area down to just get a drop of paint, whereas the Clarke could conform better to the surface.

My 5 gal tub of sealer from Legacy shows up Tuesday, so we'll find out pretty soon if I did a good enough job, lol. I'm assuming since nobody chimed in and said "holy hell you need to go back over that for another 385 hours" that I should be okay.

I'm researching my flooring options. I greatly appreaciate this thread. I hadn't considered just sealing the floor. It looks pretty nice..
