Hi all, I bought a cmt 219.10.80 https://www.cmtorangetools.com/medi...0_0325 ENG 2019_GUIDE_blades_10inches (4).pdf for my makita ls1013 sliding miter saw. The70 tooth makita blade that came with saw is a positive 5 degree hook thin kerf. Works well. The Freud 80 toother is getting sharpened. Dint know blade hook angle. The CMT is negative 5 degrees to push work down and towards fence. It’s full kerf too. I think I’m ok to crosscut with full kerf. I think the makita is plenty strong. I read somewhere negative hook blades dull faster. Anyway I’d appreciate thoughts. I got a great deal from zoro on one. Combi Grind TCG+ATB 3°, 5°,-6°. Specs

Negative hook angle is to prevent "self-feeding" or pulling of blade into the material as you cut. It gives you more control and stability compared to positive hook angles as it pushes the material down toward the plinth/table and back toward the fence. Most positive angle blades run about +5 to +15 degrees.

Some people also feel that negative hook angles gives a better finish, though it may be just because of the better control through the cut.
