Hopefully this is in the right spot. I am currently adding onto my existing garage. The existing garage is about 18'6" by 22'. Not nearly big enough. So my options were either 30 x 50 or 24 x 62 with 10' side walls. It also had to be attached to be considered grandfathered in on the inset from the property line. Current garage is 3' from the line, new one gets to be attached and also 3' from the line. When I laid out the 30 x 50, not only did it come out a bit far into the back yard, but the corner came real close to my well. So, choosing the 24' x 62' came easy.

The top of the white pipe is even with the floor of the old garage, its about 14" down to the surface of the ground. 4" of concrete, 4" of rock, leaves me 6" of fill dirt to bring in.

Looks like a good strategy :)

This may be obvious, but make sure you scrape all organic material (sod, etc) away before filling, as that will get spongy over time if left buried. Also, its an excellent idea to scrape rich organic topsoil (if present) as the same type of issues can result. Compaction is then key, plate compactor or jumping jack.

Just talked to my brother-in-law about getting his tractor between now and the weekend. Main thing right now is to dodge the raindrops. Will be scraping the grass off and will be getting a compactor as well as some fill dirt between now and the weekend.

Alright, time for an update. Started a new job back on 2nd of May. Most everything was put on the back burner. Was able to start on the foundation a couple of months later though. Move forward to 25 Sep. Foundation was dug and poured by the 29th. Spent the about the next 6 months out of town working. We start on the walls tomorrow with the rafters coming by Wednesday.

Yes sir. Although its not quite done, roof is on, siding is on, and new roof on small garage has been raised. Electrical and drywall has been started. I have pics on my laptop at home that I can post later this evening.

Time to check out the new LED lights. First pic had three rows of three lights. Next pic had 4 rows of three. I liked the second pic because of the lack of shadows. Now there are 9 rows of 4 LED lights for the garage. I like to be able to see.

Thanks Jarhead. The bagger is a 2007 Road King. I ride as much as I can. 40k miles in 2 1/2 years.
