Does anyone out there know what these were made for? They were made by the German company Eldi, who used to make tools for the bicycle market. They were once part of the collection of a now defunct bicycle shop. I've worked in the bike business for most of the last twenty years, and have a pretty strong working knowledge of bicycles and the unique tools they sometimes use. These pliers, however, I have no idea.

Edit: they are approximately five inches long

I hadn't thought of that, but I don't think they would be used for that. I've actually seen some of the older Eldi and Var chain pliers and they're a bit different.

I have finally discovered that the pliers in question were made to be used on a fitting similar to a hi-lok fitting. These are current hi-lok pliers made by Zephyr.

I'm still not sure what they were doing in a tool box in a bike shop, but I at least now have some idea of what they were made for.
