I am trying to wire up my pump motor 208 240v have red, black, and green wire I know green is ground, on motor is L1 and L2 I
do not know if black is L1 or L2. Please help me. Thank you

It doesn't matter. It's a split phase 240 volt AC system. Pick one, Red is L1 and Black is L2 or Black is L1 and Red is L2. Works the same either way.

As long as you have 240vac between black and red, either can be connected to L1 or L2.

As noted, it doesn't matter.

Generally speaking, black is L1 and red is L2 but it works just fine either way.
