Electralosis for Rust removal

I recently stumbled across this website http://www.instructables.com/id/Electrolytic-Rust-Removal-aka-Magic/

and I am curious if you use a method such as this will it affect the structural integrity of the metal? Would it remove bluing or annodised finishes? I have just began to explore this method and would appreciate any input.

I use this a lot. I have a heavy duty power supply that I use. So it cleans faster than a normal battery charger. I restore a lot of stuff and it is also a good way to get bolts loose. I bought a bunch of old hand tools like adjustable wrenches and a original set of USA made vise grips. The were completely rusted up and nothing moved. I was able to use this and get all the tools loose and working. I highly recomend it. I use it over heating bolts since it is so easy and I don't chance warping the piece due to heat. There is info here at GJ like fergus said and a good piece on it is at the link below. I printed that page out and have it by my electrolytic cleaning area.

As mentioned, there's quite a few topics on it. I found the instructions by member OutlawMWS particularly helpful when setting up my electrolysis tank.
