I am building a BBQ out of stacked concrete blocks. I want to add some electrical outlets into the wall, flush with the wall, not mounted on to the outside. Making the cuts to accommodate the box is not a problem, but how do I attach the box? I am using a landscaping adhesive to hold the block together, so should I glue in the electric box the same? Any good tricks since the box is slightly tapered, but will be sitting on a flat block? Would a metal or plastic box hold up better?
Thanks!
Wall looks like this:

Outlet like this (I will actually use a slightly thinner cover plate):
